26th Annual Fall Spectacular Will Conclude RAR Season Saturday Night

Eureka, CA (September 5, 2018) – The 2018 season at Redwood Acres Raceway is set to conclude this Saturday with the 26th Annual Fall Spectacular presented by Mid-City Motor World. Championships in all of the Acres’ local divisions will be decided, including in the late model division in the Dennis Wendt Memorial Fall Spectacular. The North State Modified Series won’t crown it’s champion Saturday night but they will also be partaking in the festivities for what will be their third visit to the 3/8-mile paved oval.

The most points that can be earned for the night for the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners is 70. Essentially that means Nick Ford has clinched the 2018 track championship for the division going into this weekend as his advantage over Tim Ratzlaff is 81 points. Lindsey Zito holds down third in the standings with Amanda Lohr and Ronny Crump completing the top five.

Only ten points separate Bandolero points leader Lane Anderson and second place Aiden Kimberling. The previous event at the Acres on August 18 saw Kimberling part of a scary turn two incident that severely damaged his car but thankfully the youngster was unharmed in the wreck. Third place in the standings is very much up in the air as Kadence Mace and Malessa Miles will decide which drivers gets which position. Trey Daniels holds down fifth.

The NorthCoast Lighting & Electric Legends division title has been a season-long battle between Chris Lawrence and Tyler Peach. The margin between the two is 39 points with Lawrence only needing to start the main event for the championship to be his. Aiden Daniels has been the top rookie in the Legends and he leads veteran Brent Mack in fourth place by only 12 points. Katina Baker will likely be unable to advance higher than fifth in the final standings but she will have her hands full holding off fellow female competitors Kylie Daniels and MKinzy Uselton for the coveted position.

The bomber division season finale should be a very special event thanks to a boost in the purse from season-long sponsors Fortuna Wheel & Brake and Four-Star Realty. Starting the feature event will pay $75 with the winner taking $800. Second place will receive $400, third place $300, fourth place $200 and fifth place $100. Drivers that tow over 50-miles for the bomber division and attempt to qualify will get a $250 payout.

Jim Redd’s 46-point lead over Wyatt Roach in the bombers means he will have to have bad enough issues to not participate in Saturday night’s races. Sam Brown and Ryan Walters in third and fourth should end up in those same positions at the end of Saturday night’s race. Fifth place is up in the air as Bethany Rapp and Doug Way are tied for the position.

Either Brian Murrell, Sr. or Eugene Palmer will be the 2018 champion in the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stocks. Murrell, Sr. has a 29-point advantage over Palmer which will be very difficult to overcome. Scott Taylor is locked in the third spot and had a vicious incident in the August 18 race that heavily damaged his machine which hopefully won’t prevent him from being on the track this weekend. Trevor Eacret is fourth and Brett Murrell fifth.

The North State Modified Series’ third visit to the Acres in 2018 should be very interesting. Only three races remain on the schedule and the drivers should be itching to race as it’s been almost seven weeks since the modifieds previous race which coincidentally took place at RAR on July 21. The tour was lined up to visit Lakeport Speedway August 11 but the fires in the surrounding area forced the cancellation of that event. Kris Price leads the NSMS standings and won the July 21 race. It will be the first time since 2014 that modified racing will be part of the schedule for the Fall Spectacular.

The 2018 Mid-City Motor World Super Six Challenge Series late model championship will either be in the hands of Mic Moulton or David Henderson. 15 points is the difference between the two going into Saturday’s Dennis Wendt Memorial race. Dane Nissen will be hoping to cap off the season with a victory as he will likely place third in the standings despite missing the June 9 event. Kenny Demello and Scott Baker complete the top five in points.

There will be an open practice Friday September 7 from Noon to 7:00 PM which will be followed by a barbecue. Saturday’s events will start earlier in the afternoon with the front gates opening at 4:00 PM and racing beginning at 5:00 PM. New Bullring Track Proves To Be A Big Hit For Humboldt Outlaw Kart Racers

#42c Chayce Smith, winner of the box stock main

Eureka, CA (August 26, 2018) – The highly anticipated debut of the new 1/8-mile dirt venue took place this past Saturday at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds. It was an exciting afternoon for all involved as a ribbon cutting ceremony prior to the action on the track took place at the start/finish line. The new track’s location on the fairground’s property took the place of the previous rodeo arena giving Redwood Acres and outlaw kart racers their own permanent bullring track. The Mill Yard sponsored the racing action which not only celebrated a new beginning of racing in Northern California but also the hard work and dedication of many volunteers who helped made the track become a reality.

Chayce Smith took the victory in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stock division. The feature event got off to a slow start with two multiple-kart incidents on the initial two restarts. The third restart saw Smith jump to the race lead and he never looked back. At the finish it was Smith taking the win over Jack Myer, Danica Kinsey and Aaliyah Mitchell.

The Williamson Financial Group box stocks had a nice turnout of karts which necessitated two heat races. Grant Williamson won the first heat while Timmy Walters took the second. Dylan Combest had issues in his heat which prevented him from finishing but that did nothing to slow him at the start of the main event as he led early over Brady Osborne. Derrick Kessler, Jr. was able to maneuver to the lead just as a spin by Sonya Osborne slowed the field. Combest got a great restart and took the lead back from Kessler, Jr. Austin Bartholomew was beginning to make his way to the front as he entered third place in the middle stages of the race but a spin off turn two ended his chance at victory. Combest led the restart and was able to pull away from the pack while second on the back shuffled from lap to lap. At the finish it was Combest winning over Janice Walters. Brady Osborne was third with Mitchell Matteoli fourth and Williamson fifth.

The new raceway looked to be a better fit for the faster Wes Green Landscaping 125/250cc karts. Landen Green has been the dominant driver in the division and he was able to easily transition from the 1/8-track the karts previous raced on to the new track with a win in the heat race. Wyatt Burns briefly led the main event but a spin off turn two gave Green the lead. Nobody had anything for Green who was able to pull away from the pack of Maleesa Miles, MKinzy Uselton and Burns who traded second position several times. Green was able to bring it home first at the finish over Burns and Uselton while Miles was fourth but unable to finish the race due to mechanical issues.

Like the 125/250cc karts, the NorCal Automotive 500cc/open karts seemed to take to the new track very well. Tony Miles held on to take the heat race victory. The feature proved to be a battle of survival as every driver in the event seemed to have one mechanical issue or another. Miles looked to have the victory sewn up in the late stages when Dax Williamson was forced into the pits. Williamson was able to return and took the lead when Miles had issues with his kart. Miles returned and the two settled the race for the victory on the track. Miles jumped into the lead on the final restart and was able to beat Williamson to the finish. Gary Foster was third with Jordan Miclette fourth.

Nick Ford took the heat race victory in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake old fart karts. Chelsea Champagne jumped to the lead in the feature and was able to pull out to a substantial lead. Ford was likely her primary competition but he got hooked up with the hay bales off turn two which cost him almost a full lap to the leader Champagne. Ford ran as hard as he could as he was able to get by Sabrina Kinsey and Amanda Harp but without the aid of a caution he was unable to make up ground on the leader. Champagne cruised to the win over Ford, Harp and Kinsey.

Two competitors from Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division raced in the Miclette Family Racing pure stocks with point leader Chris Lawrence and Leonard Ward racing for the afternoon. Ward was able to take the heat race victory. Unfortunately, one of the competitors Ryan Ahrens had issues in the heat and was unable to start the feature race. Ward took the lead at the start of the main event and looked to have the race well in hand. A spin in turn four took Ward out of the lead and putting Lawrence up front. That was all Lawrence needed as he was able to lead from the restart to the checkered flag for the victory. Pete Miclette took second with Ward placing third.

Another race is still on the schedule for the 2018 Humboldt Outlaw Karts season on Saturday September 17th. HKR officials are also hoping to add an addition event before the year is over. New Track Will Provide New Challenge For Outlaw Kart Drivers

Eureka, CA (August 23, 2018) – It’s been a long two months for outlaw kart racers in the Humboldt County area. The most recent race occurred all the way back on June 21st during the Redwood Acres Fair. The delay between then and this Saturday was for good reason as this weekend’s Humboldt Outlaw Kart races will be the dawn of a new era for outlaw kart racing in the area.

A brand-new permanent 1/8-mile track has been built in place of the fairgrounds’ old rodeo arena which is in the southwest portion of Redwood Acres, adjacent to the BMX track. The previous 1/10-mile dirt circuit was located in the infield of the 3/8-mile paved Redwood Acres Raceway oval. However, other motorsport events necessitated the track having to be restored throughout the year. The new track will be to the benefit of racers and fans and the new, bigger track will provide a new challenge for the drivers. The Mill Yard will be presenting this Saturday’s races and all six divisions will be participating.

The beautiful new outlaw kart bullring would not have been possible without the hard work and support of numerous people. Thank you to Ryan Ahrens, Nick Green, John Jameson, Kevin Jameson, Jamie Jorgensen, Jordan Miclette, Casey Mitchell and Ryan Walters for their dedication to not only seeing the new track come to fruition but for going above and beyond in making it a place we can all be proud of. Humboldt Outlaw Karts would also like to thank our division sponsors Champagne Attorney Service for the beginner box stocks, Williamson Financial Group for the box stocks, Wes Green Landscaping for the 125/250cc karts, Fortuna Wheel & Brake for the old fart karts, Miclette Family Racing for the pure stocks and NorCal Automotive for the 500cc/open karts. Also a huge thank you to Wes Green Landscaping, Steve’s Septic Service, Eureka Payments, John’s Used Cars And Wreckers, Automotive Workshop & Fabrication and The Mill Yard for sponsoring the Humboldt Outlaw Kart races.

Gates for this Saturday’s event open at 10:00 AM. Mud packing will take place at 2:30 PM with racing starting at 3:00 PM. For more information on this weekend’s exciting action, visit Humboldt Outlaw Karts’ website at www.HumboldtOutlawKarts.com or on Facebook www.facebook.com/HumboldtOutlawKarts/

Packed House For Driver Appreciation Night At The Acres

Eureka, CA (August 19, 2018) – After a near month-long summer break, racing returned to Redwood Acres Raceway. The grandstands were filled with excited fans of all ages for Anderson Logging Driver Appreciation Night at the Races. Before the action took place on the track, fans were able to meet their favorite drivers in all of the divisions at the 3/8-mile paved oval. Track officials also hosted a donation drive for victims of the Carr and Mendocino Complex fires. Nearly $1,500 was donated with those donating $10 receiving a complimentary ticket to the season ending Fall Spectacular on September 8th. The night proved to be a memorable one for many reasons as the racing on the track was extended past the 11:00 PM curfew.

For the first time this season, the Thunder Roadsters were in action for a full-slate of races. The race was a late addition to the event and was held in honor of Paul Peeples, Sr. who recently passed away. Peeples was a long-time participant at the raceway and served as crew chief for his son Paul Peeples, Jr.’s Thunder Roadster. A memorial lap in his honor was held before the trophy dash race. Alan Olson was the winner of the trophy dash and heat races. Jett Taylor was the leader of the first lap of the 25-lap main. Lap tow saw Olson gain the advantage before David Henderson was able to get under and past for the lead. Henderson’s time up front only lasted another circuit as Paul Peeples, Jr. was able to take the lead. The front trio of Peeples, Henderson and Olson ran nose-to-tail all race long with nobody seeming to have any advantage over the other. A late caution flag seemed to give Peeples the extra he needed to go on and take the victory over Henderson, Olson, Tommy Payne and Taylor.

The first main event for the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners was initially run backwards. An early incident in turn three involving Allison McCarty brought out the red flag when she hit the water barrels. When racing resumed, Nick Ford and Tim Ratzlaff continued their season-long duel, battling for the race lead. Ford was able to prevail to take the checkered flag over Ratzlaff, Lindsey Zito, Jennifer Murrell and Steve Paiment. The second feature was a replay of the first with Ford and Ratzlaff fighting all race long for the lead. On the last lap, the two were neck-and-neck going into turns three and four while coming upon Murrell. Ratzlaff got into Murrell sending her into a spin. Although he crossed the line first, officials awarded Ford the win. Ratzlaff was scored second followed by Amanda Lohr, Steve Paiment and Murrell.

Malessa Miles was the winner of the Bandolero trophy dash while Ethan Imperatrice was the heat race winner. Lane Anderson held the lead the first two circuits. Going into turn one on lap three, Imperatrice made a move under Kimberling for position. The two appeared to get hooked together and both went into the turn two tire-barrier hard. Thankfully both drivers were unharmed. The rest of the race was a runaway for Anderson as he was able to win by well over 10 seconds. Miles finished second ahead of Trey Daniels and Kadence Mace while Kimberling was credited with fifth.

Bethany Rapp held on for the victory in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bomber trophy dash. Brandon White was subbing for Jim Redd for the evening and he took the heat race win. Rapp and Sam Brown traded the lead in the first two laps of the main event before White took over. On lap nine, Roach moved into the top spot. Roach and White fought tooth-and-nail for the lead for the remainder of the race. Roach was able to hold off White’s furious challenges to take the checkered flag. Brown placed third followed by Rapp and Doug Way.

The NorthCoast Lighting and Electric Legends division trophy dash was taken by Chris Lawrence. Former bomber division champion Leonard Ward made his debut in the Legends this season and took the win in the first heat race which featured a last lap wreck that took Tyler Krupa and Katina Baker out of action for the main event. Tyler Peach took the second heat win. Ward quickly moved to the lead of the main event and looked like a division veteran, leading in dominant fashion. Brent Mack and Tyler Peach battled hard for the second position all race long. Mack held the position until lap 10 when Peach moved to second. Ward had his hands full with both drivers in his mirror in the closing laps. Coming to the white flag, Ward got loose off turn four and spun into the infield. Peach took the lead and was able to hold off Mack’s late charge to win. Aiden Daniels finished third with Colby Furia and Kylie Daniels taking fourth and fifth.

The Fifth Annual Murrell 500 trophy for the Humboldt Hydroponics was on the line for the evening. Brett Murrell won the dash with heat race winners being Gary Kleintobe and Brett Murrell again. Trevor Eacret led lap one but Brian Murrell, Jr. took over on lap two. Murrell, Jr. had his mirror full with Eugene Palmer and Brett Murrell following right in his tracks. A caution flag flew when Rick Estes’ front bumper fell off on the front straight. Racing resumed and Brett Murrell was able to get second from Palmer. The two brothers staged a fantastic duel for the lead until lap 15 when Scott Taylor got high in turns one and two and ended up in the tire barrier. The incident, coupled with the other incidents in other divisions forced track officials to declare the race official giving Murrell, Jr. the win and the crown as Murrell 500 champion for the next year. Brett Murrell was second over Palmer, Eacret with Taylor taking fifth due to scoring reverting to the previous lap.

Dane Nissen was fast time for the Mid-City Motor World Super Six Challenge Series late models with a 16.009. Luke Hall took the win in the first heat. Heat two was dominated by Mic Moulton but on the last lap his car began smoking heavily and leaking fluid on the track. His issue allowed David Henderson to slip past to take the win and earn pole position for the 60-lap feature. Henderson used pole position to his advantage as he jumped to the lead at the start of the NorthCoast Lighting and Electric main event. Thankfully only one caution slowed the race as the feature started right at the 11:00 PM curfew. The first 20 laps saw Henderson fight off Nissen for the lead while Shawn Andrews and Moulton raced for third. Moulton moved to third on lap 24 and slowly reeled in the two leaders.

As the race neared its conclusion, it appeared as though Henderson began to struggle more and more with his car, particularly off the fourth turn. With 10 laps remaining things really began to heat up. After a several lap back and fourth fight, Moulton maneuvered his way past Nissen to second. Moulton was all over Henderson in the final handful of laps with Henderson doing everything within his power to hold off Moulton’s charge. With two laps remaining, Moulton dove inside Henderson going into the first turn. The two drivers touched with Moulton racing to the lead. Henderson tried his best to catch up and return the favor in turns three and four but couldn’t pull it off. At the finish it was Moulton taking the win over Henderson, Nissen, Andrews and Kenny Demello.

Only one race remains on the 2018 schedule for Redwood Acres Raceway and that’s the Fall Spectacular Saturday September 8th. Championships will of course be decided on the night in all divisions. The Thunder Roadsters will return while the North State Modified Series will also be joining the action. The season will conclude with the annual Dennis Wendt Memorial Fall Spectacular 100 for the late models. More information on the event and everything going on at Redwood Acres Raceway can be found on the track’s website www.RedwoodAcresRacing.com or by visiting RAR on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RedwoodAcresRaceway/

Junior Ace Video Reporter Joins Redwood Acres Raceway Staff

Eureka, CA (August 14, 2018) – Redwood Acres Raceway is proud to announce a special new staff member who will be using his talents to provide insight from a unique point of view. Seven-year-old Jacob Lawrence, who will be eight in the beginning of September, will be RAR’s new Junior Ace Video Reporter for the final two races of the 2018 season and into the future.

With his own initiative and the help of his family, Jacob started his own YouTube channel JacobsTV in July. Jacob interviewed several drivers during the most recent race on July 21st and also interacted with drivers in the Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour earlier this month. Jacob’s interviews quickly became a big hit amongst drivers and fans thanks to his enthusiasm and creativity. His perspective will give fans of all ages a chance to view the drivers and the races at Redwood Acres Raceway from a new and unique point of view.

Jacob’s passion for motorsports was inherited through his family. His father, Michael, better known to local race fans as Cheeseburger, raced at Redwood Acres Raceway for several years. Lawrence won the 2012 championship in the Roadrunner division and another track championship in the Bomber division in 2013. His two track titles, in two different divisions, puts his name alongside Randy Olson, Rusty Olson, Glenn Shewry, Mic Moulton, Otis Stabler and Paul Peeples, Jr. as the only drivers who’ve been able to do so since the Acres was paved in 1988.

Jacob’s position as the official Junior Ace Video Reporter for Redwood Acres Raceway will begin this Saturday for Driver Appreciation Night at the races, presented by Anderson Logging. You can find Jacob’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdHkJEPGF6uzH1SlRLptpjg or follow him on Facebook www.facebook.com/JacobsTVY/

Two Weekends Of Racing Left At Redwood Acres Raceway

Eureka, CA (August 13, 2018) – After a near month long break racing returns to Redwood Acres Raceway this Saturday night. Anderson Logging will be presenting the annual Driver Appreciation night at the 3/8-mile paved oval. With the 2018 season quickly coming to an end and championships on the line, fans should not expect anything less in every race in all of the Acres’ divisions.

Saturday night will be bittersweet for many drivers, crew members and fans as it will be the first race at RAR since the passing of Paul Peeples, Sr. Peeples was a fixture on the track and in the pits at Redwood Acres Raceway for well over 40 years, going back to the days the speedway was a dirt track. In recent years, Peeples was crew chief of his son Paul Peeples, Jr.’s Thunder Roadster. In his honor, the roadsters will be racing this weekend for the first and only time in 2018. Prior to the start of Saturday night’s event, all drivers in the Thunder Roadster division will make a memorial lap in memory of Peeples.

It appears as though Nick Ford’s hold on the championship points lead in the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners is very firm. He leads second place Lindsey Zito by 68 points. Tim Ratzlaff has been Ford’s biggest competition all year long and is third in points. Misfortune prevented him from starting several races which has likely prevented him from being neck-and-neck with Ford in points. His 73-point deficit to the leader is likely insurmountable. Two rookies round out the top five in Amanda Lohr and Ronny Crump. Only one point separates the two but unfortunately, they are well out of the running for the track championship.

Only three points separate first and second in the Bandolero division. Lane Anderson holds the lead but Aiden Kimberling has been consistent all year long and is second. Kadence Mace is third in the standings, 47 points behind Anderson. Malessa Miles sits fourth and 15 points behind Mace. Fifth place is Trey Daniels.

Chris Lawrence has been on point since the 2018 season started at the Acres. His numerous victories and consistent up-front runs have garnered him a 48-point advantage over Tyler Peach. Aiden Daniels has been very impressive in his rookie effort and he is third in the points. Katina Baker is also new to the Legends division at RAR and she is fourth, 20-points behind Daniels. Brent Mack is fifth and only a point behind Baker.

Jim Redd has been the points leader in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bomber division almost literally since the year started. Second place Wyatt Roach had a late start to his season and has done everything possible to chip away at Redd’s lead. The gap between the two going into this weekend is 48 points. Sam Brown has been able to settle into the bomber division this year and has a third place in the standings for his effort. Division veteran Ryan Walters holds the fourth slot with Chris Naughton in fifth.

The fight for the Humboldt Hydroponics Mini Stock title features an oddity in the standings. Brian Murrell, Sr. has a 32-point lead over Eugene Palmer, a gap that is almost unheard of in the highly competitive division. Scott Taylor is always one of the top drivers to beat in his second year in the division and even though he’s still looking for his first feature win, he still has an outside chance at the championship as he is 49 points behind Murrell, Sr. Trevor Eacret won his first main earlier this season and is fourth but out of the running for the title. Nick Ford has the fifth position in his possession. This weekend’s mini stock feature will be the Fifth Annual running of the Murrell 500. The winner of the 25-lap race will earn the perpetual Murrell 500 trophy. Brett Murrell is the current Murrell 500 champion having won the 2017 running of the event.

In spite of Mic Moulton’s dominance in the Mid-City Motor World Super Six Challenge Series late model division, his lead over second place David Henderson is a close 12 points. Dane Nissen as been a front-runner all season long. Unfortunately for Nissen, he was unable to compete in the June 9th event otherwise his 66-point deficit to Moulton would be much closer. Kenny Demello is 97 points behind Moulton in fourth. Marty Walsh is fifth, 101 points behind the leader.

Before the racing action starts on Saturday’s Driver Appreciation Night, fans will be able to make their way onto the front straight to meet their favorite drivers and get an up-close look at all of the race cars in all of the divisions. The grandstands will open at 5:00 PM with the meet and greet starting at the same time. Fans will have over an hour to interact with their local short-track heroes as racing will begin at 6:30 PM.

Moulton Returns To Form While Price Cashes In

Eureka, CA (July 22, 2018) – The 2018 season at Redwood Acres Raceway is rapidly coming to a close with this Saturday night’s Harper Motors Night at the Races marking four races left on the schedule. While the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners had the night off, the late models returned to action. In addition, the North State Modified Series made their second visit to the Acres this season.

Lane Anderson has been fast all season in the Bandolero division and continued that by setting the fastest time in qualifying at a 21.354. Ethan Imperatrice made his first start of the season and was able to win the trophy dash and the heat race. Trey Daniels took the lead at the start of the main event and had control of it for the first six circuits. Imperatrice moved to the lead on lap seven before Daniels retook the position. Two laps later, Daniels fell out of the race giving Imperatrice the lead but in another two laps, Imperatrice also fell out. Anderson took over the top spot and was able to lead the rest of the way and score the victory. Maleesa Miles finished second followed by Aiden Kimberling and Kadence Mace. Imperatrice was scored fifth.

Qualifying for the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bombers was led by Wyatt Roach with a 18.424. Roach took the dash win while Sam Brown was the heat race winner. Brown used the pole position to his advantage in the feature event as he was able to take over and lead until lap eight. That’s when Roach took over. He was able to hold on and take his first main event win of the season. Brown and Jim Redd finished second and third.

In the NorthCoast Lighting And Electric Legends division, Brad Curtice set fast time with an 18.121. Chris Lawrence was the trophy dash victor while Aiden Daniels and Curtice were the heat race winners. The opening lap of the feature was led by David Dunlap. Lap two saw Aiden Daniels move to the front. Curtice quickly sliced his way through the field and moved to the lead on lap eight. The field spread out and Curtice was able to gap Aiden Daniels. At the finish it was Curtice taking the victory by nearly two seconds. Aiden Daniels narrowly beat Lawrence to the line for third. Kylie Daniels finished a strong fourth with Zach Frazer rounding out the top five finishers.

The ever-competitive Humboldt Hydroponics mini stocks were paced by Brian Murrell, Sr. as he set a qualifying lap of 18.980. Eugene Palmer crossed the line first in the trophy dash and Brian Murrell, Jr. winning the heat race. Nick Ford held the lead for the first five laps but contact between he and Trevor Eacret allowed Brett Murrell to move to the position. The rest of the event came down to a battle between Brett Murrell, Palmer and Murrell, Sr. As the laps clicked off, Brett Murrell was able to stretch his lead. At the finish line it was Brett Murrell winning. Palmer held off Murrell, Sr. for second while Brian Murrell, Jr. and Scott Taylor finished out the top five drivers.

Darrin Sullivan narrowly took fast time for the North State Modified Series setting a 16.548. Herman Pulyer prevailed in the Lucas Oil Dash For Cash. The invert for the 60-lap main event was 10 which put Stuart Campbell on the pole. After falling back to the third position, Eric Johnson was able to move to the lead on lap 10. Kris Price moved his way to second after 15-laps and on lap 19 he took over the race lead. Price was able to slowly pull away from the rest of the pack.

Eric Price, Jr. was a favorite going into the event but fell out just before the halfway point. Terry Deal took second from Eric Johnson with 15-laps remaining but was well behind the leader. With three laps remaining, smoke poured from Sullivan’s car taking him out of action and necessitating a caution flag. The field bunched up for a sprint to the finish however Deal was not able to get by Eric Price. At the finish it was Price holding off Deal for the win. Johnson was second ahead of Randy Houston and Dustin DeRosier.

Less than 0.056 seconds separated the top three in qualifying for the Mid-City Motor World Super Six Late Model Challenge Series with Mic Moulton setting the fastest lap. George Young was the winner of heat race number one while Luke Hall won heat number two and pole position for the NorthCoast Lighting & Electric main event.

Hall jumped to the lead at the start of the feature with Dane Nissen following him into second. David Henderson slotted into third while Moulton held fourth. With nary the sign of a caution flag, handling and tire wear proved to be more important than usual. The halfway point saw Hall still leading Nissen but third place was switched between Moulton and Henderson. The front three closed up on each other. On lap 40, Moulton maneuvered past Nissen and chased Hall for the lead. With 15 to go, Moulton took the lead from Hall. Moulton was able to slowly pull away as the rest proved to be caution-free. Moulton crossed the finish line first over Hall, Nissen and Henderson. Kenny Demello put in a solid fifth place effort.

Racing on the 3/8-mile paved oval at Redwood Acres Raceway will take a month-long break as August 18th is the next race on the schedule. Late Models, Modifieds Headline RAR Doubleheader

Eureka, CA (July 16, 2018) – The 2018 season of racing at Redwood Acres Raceway’s 3/8-mile paved oval is hitting its homestretch. Only four races remain on the schedule including this weekend’s Harper Motors Night at the Races. With the championship in sight, drivers in all the divisions will be racing hard to keep every position and earn every point.

The Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners will have the night off this Saturday. That’s likely good news for Nick Ford who leads Lindsey Zito by 68 points but suffered severe damage on his car on the most recent race on July 7th. Tim Ratzlaff has been the only driver who’s been able to contend with Ford every race but is 73 points behind due to missing the main event on May 5 and the entire race on May 12th. Amanda Lohr has had a solid year and is fourth in the standings with Ronny Crump holding down the fifth position.

The first season for the Bandolero division has thrilled and delighted fans. Aiden Kimberling only has a nine-point edge on Lane Anderson for the division title. Kadence Mace is third but will need Kimberling and Anderson to have major issues as she is 45 points behind. Maleesa Miles holds down fourth but is 22 points behind Mace. Trey Daniels is in the fifth spot.

The Fortuna Wheel & Brake/Four Star Realty bomber division standings are being led by Jim Redd. He has a huge advantage of 51 points over second place Wyatt Roach. Ryan Walters is third, six in arrears to Roach. Sam Brown is 80 points behind Redd in fourth with Chris Naughton 110 points behind in fifth.

Chris Lawrence’s point lead over second in the NorthCoast Lighting & Electric Legends division is 37. Tyler Peach is second, 37 points behind but will have a difficult time making that ground up to Lawrence. Aiden Daniels is third and has a very good rookie season. Fourth place Katina Baker is also a rookie and she too has been impressive. Brent Mack rounds out the top five in the standings.

Brian Murrell, Sr. leads Eugene Palmer by 25 points in the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stock division. Palmer’s bad luck in the two most recent races and Murrell, Sr.’s main event wins have allowed the veteran to expand his advantage in the standings. Scott Taylor will find it difficult to gain ground on the two leaders as he is 44 points behind. Trevor Eacret and Gary Klinetobe are fourth and fifth but well out of the running for the division championship.

The Mid-City Motor World Super Six Challenge Series late model division has been dominated by Mic Moulton. Of the four races that have taken place so far, Moulton has won three. Brandon White broke Moulton’s streak with a win in the Don Graham Memorial Firecracker 100 on July 7th. In spite of his three wins, Moulton’s lead over second place David Henderson is only 10 points. It’s likely it will be a two-driver race for the championship as Marty Walsh is third, 56 points behind Moulton. Walsh’s season has been plagued with bad luck. Dane Nissen is four points behind Walsh in fourth with Kenny Demello holding down fifth in the standings.

The North State Modified Series Driving Out Cancer Tour will be making their second of three visits to Redwood Acres Raceway this season. Their first race at the Acres occurred on May 27th with Jason Philpot taking the victory over Eric Johnson and Kris Price. The series’ most recent race at All-American Speedway in Roseville was won by Price. The fight for the NSMS title is a close one with Price leading Philpot by only three points. Dustin DeRosier, Terry Deal and Eric Johnson are third through fifth.

Prior to racing, Redwood Acres Raceway and Harper Motors will host the Second Annual Mustang Show and Shine. The event will begin at 3:00 PM with the grandstands opening at 5:00 PM. The Mustangs will be staged between 5-5:25 PM when judging of the cars will end. The Mustangs will have a parade lap and trophy presentation at 5:30 PM. The races will begin at 5:45 PM.

Racing at Redwood Acres Raceway will take a month-long break as August 18th is the next race on the 2018 schedule. In between both races, RAR will host the Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour on August 3rd and 4th. Tuff trucks will also be in action as well as monster truck rides. Saturday night will be the second boat race at the Acres in 2018. It’s certain to be a crowd-pleasing event on both nights.

V.I.P. pre-sale tickets will be available to purchase on July 22nd at Redwood Acres Raceway’s website www.RedwoodAcresRacing.com as well as the Redwood Acres Fair office and Fortuna Wheel & Brake. More information on the event can be found at Redwood Acres Raceway’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/RedwoodAcresRaceway/ You can also find the Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour at www.MaliciousMonsterTruckTour.com or their Facebook page www.facebook.com/MaliciousMonsterTruckTour/

White Stops Moulton’s Streak, Wins Don Graham Memorial Firecracker 100

#19 Brandon White earned his fourth straight Don Graham Memorial Firecracker 100 Saturday night

Eureka, CA (July 8, 2018) – Redwood Acres Raceway was fortunate to have beautiful weather this past Saturday night for one of the biggest races of the 2018 season. Bi-Coastal Media Night at the Races which featured the late models in a 100-lap main event and a spectacular firework display which concluded the evening’s festivities. While the Bandolero and Legends divisions had the night off, roadrunners, bombers and mini stocks were the other divisions in action for the evening.

Jennifer Murrell was fast time for the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners with a time of 21.766. Nick Ford took the race lead at the start of the first feature event. His biggest rival in the 2018 season has been Tim Ratzlaff and the two engaged in a race-long dual for the lead. The lead changed four times between both drivers. With two laps remaining, Ratzlaff gained the upper-hand and was able to fend off Ford for the win. Murrell, Lindsey Zito and Amanda Lohr rounded out the top five.

Zito jumped into the lead on the second main event which was run backward. Zito led the first five laps until Ratzlaff took over. On lap nine, Zito’s left front tire began to spark as the cords in her tires started to fail. As she entered turn two, her tire went flat and she lost control. Zito ended up hitting the rear-end of Ford’s car and both drivers were out of the race. Ratzlaff went unopposed the rest of the race as he won by over eight seconds. Lohr placed second with Allison McCarty and Murrell third and fourth. Zito was credited with a fifth-place effort.

The Fortuna Wheel & Brake/Four Star Realty bomber division qualifications were paced by Wyatt Roach with an 18.117. Ryan Walters took the trophy dash victory. Sam Brown led the first five laps of the feature event but was overtaken by R.J. Randall on lap six. Randall began to pull away as the other drivers tried to sort things out. With 10-laps remaining there appeared to be contact between Brown and Walters with both drivers hitting the wall between turns one and two. Brown was unable to continue while Walters tried to continue the race but was unable to due to the severe damage he sustained. Randall continued to lead in the subsequent restart and was able to maintain a comfortable gap over the rest of the field. At the checkered flag it was Randall winning over Jim Redd, Bethany Rapp, Roach and Chris Naughton.

Qualifying for the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stock division was paced by Brian Murrell, Sr. with a 19.039. The mini stock trophy dash win was taken by Brett Murrell. Nick Ford let the opening lap of the main event but was passed by Brian Murrell, Jr. on lap two. Murrell, Jr. gapped the rest of the field with his lead being nearly a straight-away over second place. Eugene Palmer moved to second with Murrell, Sr. running third. On lap 15, Murrell, Sr. took second and tried to catch his son. Lap 20 proved to be the turning point for the race. Murrell, Jr. spun out of the lead off turn two moving Murrell, Sr. to the point. Just moments later, a major wreck took place in turns three and four with Brett Murrell, Rick Estes and Ken McCarty all sustaining major damage.

Murrell, Sr. led the Palmer and the rest of the field to the restart. Palmer’s vehicle began to have issues which moved him out of the second position and struggling to finish the race. The final few laps came down to the father/son duo of Murrell, Sr. and Murrell, Jr. With two laps to go, Murrell, Jr. was right on his father’s bumper. Murrell, Sr. was able to withstand his son’s late run and was first at the finish line. Scott Taylor was second followed by Nick Ford and Trevor Eacret.

Brandon White’s 15.802 time set the standard in the Mid-City Motor World Super Six Challenge Series late model division. The heat race finishes determined the starting positions in the main event. The first heat was won by Dane Nissen. The second heat got off to a bad start as an incident took place down the backstretch which damaged the cars of Luke Hall and Marty Walsh. The incident dealt Walsh another bad blow for 2018 as he was unable to fix his car for the feature. Hall was more fortunate as his damage was repairable. Alan Cress earned pole position in the 100-lap feature with the win in the second heat race.

Cress used his front row start to take the lead on the first lap of the Don Graham Memorial Firecracker 100 presented by NorthCoast Lighting and Electric. Cress held the lead until lap 10 when White was able to get under and by for the top position. The race was slowed as incidents involving Dustin Walters, David Miller, Scott Baker and Chris Sarvinski all ran into trouble. White was able to maintain his lead after every restart and looked to have the best handle all race long. The second position swapped hands on lap 50 as Dane Nissen took over the spot from Cress. White had a comfortable lead over the rest of the field in the final few laps. Mic Moulton moved by Cress into third and he and Nissen battled with three laps remaining. At the finish it was White taking his fourth-straight Firecracker 100 victory. Nissen held off Moulton for second. Cress placed fourth with David Henderson finishing fifth.

Humboldt Outlaw Karts Featured At Redwood Acres Fair

Eureka, CA (June 26, 2018) – The Humboldt Outlaw Karts had its biggest race of the season with Automotive Workshop & Fabrication presenting the night’s action. The June 21st race was a Thursday night special on opening night of the annual Redwood Acres Fair. In addition, entry to the event was free for fans. Many in attendance were able to see outlaw kart racing at Redwood Acres for the first time, including numerous young fans.

There was additional incentive for drivers in all six divisions. The top four finishers in the main event would enter a six-lap Dash 4 Cash race with the winner receiving $100.

The heat race for the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks was won by Corbin Green. The main event went green with Chayce Smith moving to the lead. A spin by Danica Kinsey bunched the field. There were several other cautions in the race including a multi-kart accident in turn four. Even with the restarts, Smith was able to pull away from the pack each time. At the finish it was Smith winning followed by Green, Aaliyah Mitchell, Kinsey and Myer. The Dash 4 Cash race was caution-filled but the end result was similar to the main event. Smith took the $100 victory over Green, Mitchell and Kinsey.

The Williamson Financial Group box stocks had two heat races with Dylan Combest winning the first heat and Brady Osborn taking the second. Colton Kinsey led the opening stages. Derek Kessler spun in turns three and four to bring out a yellow which brought the field together. Combest used the restart to his advantage as he was able to take the lead. Spins by Bryce Johnson and Sonya Osborn slowed the race. Under caution, Kinsey had issues which forced him to retire from the race. The restart saw Combest leading followed by Connor Jones and Janice Walters. In the final handful of laps, Walters slipped off the track costing her several positions. Combest was able to hold off Jones for the win. Timmy Walters was third followed by Brady Osborn and Sonya Osborn.

The initial lead in the box stock Dash 4 Cash was held by Brady Osborn. Timmy Walters slid off track and Osborn did the same. Jones moved to the lead and was able to fend off Combest for the $100 victory.

The Wes Green Landscaping 125/200cc kart heat went to Braden Weiser. MKinzy Uselton jumped to the lead at the start of the feature but a spin by Braden Weiser forced a restart. Body Weiser took advantage to take the lead over Landen Green. The front two were close for a time but as the race wore on Body Weiser was able to pull away. Maleesa Miles’s spin closed the field while a spin by Uselton also necessitated a caution. They did not prevent Body Weiser as he was able to take the checkered flag over Braden Weiser, Landen Green and Uselton.

The Dash 4 Cash race as Uselton spun in turn three while Green and Body Weiser also spun off the second turn. Braden Weiser was able to avoid adversity to take the win followed by Body Weiser, Green and Uselton.

Nick Ford was the winner of the Fortuna Wheel & Brake old far karts. The main event was dominated by Ford. An early spin by Sara Cox slowed the field. The caution flew again when Amanda Harp turned around. Ford was able to lead wire-to-wire for the win. Harp, Cox and Foster rounded out the finishers. The start of the Dash 4 Cash saw Foster and Cox spin off the second turn. Foster led the restart with Ford closing quickly. Foster was able to fend off all challengers for the victory over Cox, Ford and Harp.

The NorCal Automotive 500cc/open karts had a nice turnout with Daniel Whitley winning the heat race. Wayne Fisher grabbed the lead at the start of the main. A spin by Tony Miles and Cliff Myer. Whitley took the lead on the restart and looked to be the driver to beat. The race was slowed by a Wayne Fisher spin. The biggest incident of the night came when Fisher spun off turn four. Miles also slid off track causing his car to roll over. Miles was able to drive his kart back to the pits but wasn’t able to return to the race. The rest of the race proved to be a formality for Whitley as he was able to cruise to the victory. Anissa Curtice and her father Brad Curtice had a race-long battle with Annissa taking the second-place finish. Fisher was fourth while Miles was credited with fifth.

It didn’t take long for Whitley to move to the lead in the Dash 4 Cash. By the end of lap one he was able to take the lead from Fisher. Anissa Curtice spun from the third position for a caution but it didn’t prevent Whitley from taking the win. Brad Curtice took second over Fisher and Anissa Curtice.

Pete Michlette was the winner in the Michlette Family Racing real stocks. The main event saw Jordan Michlette move to the lead over Tim Crenshaw. Several cautions slowed the race and allowed Tim Crenshaw to inherit the top position. Crenshaw never lost the lead even though Pete Michlette made a hard charge in the final few laps. At the checkered flag it was Crenshaw winning followed by Pete Michlette, Jordan Michlette and Alex Kinser. The Dash 4 Cash was a formality for Jordan Michlette as he led from start to finish beating out Pete Michlette, Crenshaw and Kinser.

It was a bittersweet ending at the conclusion of the races as it was the final event to be held on the 1/10th-mile dirt track inside the 3/8th-mile paved oval. Thankfully racing for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts will continue to be held at the fairgrounds. A new track inside the old rodeo arena will be the new home for the outlaw karts. Unfortunately, the next race which was scheduled for Saturday July 14th has been cancelled. Officials are working on rescheduling the event.

Murrell Survives Last-Lap Tangle To Win

#65 Tim Ratzlaff took the in in the second roadrunner main event

Eureka, CA (June 24, 2018) – A special Friday night event took place this past week at Redwood Acres Raceway. It was day two of the Redwood Acres Fair and the excitement could be felt throughout the entire fairgrounds including the 3/8-mile paved oval.

While the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bombers and the Mid-City Motor World late models were not in action, all four other divisions took to the track on Fair Night at the Races presented by Pepsi, Del Reka Distributing and Humboldt Lighting. In addition, the night finished with a boat race which has become a big hit with fans in the past several years.

Nick Ford was fast time in the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunner division with a 20.525. The first main was run in normal fashion and was a thriller from start to finish. Ford and Tim Ratzlaff traded the lead 10 times in the 20-lap main event. Ford was able to take the lead from Ratzlaff on the final lap to take the victory. Ronnie Crump was third with Jennifer Murrell fourth and Austin Peterson fifth.

The second main event was run backwards and proved to be a completely different race. Ratzlaff dominated only losing the lead to Steve Kimberling with three laps left to go. Ratzlaff was able to retake the lead and crossed the line first. Kimberling was second followed by Crump, Andy Savage and Shawna Estes.

Lane Anderson has displayed terrific pace in the first season for the Bandoleros. Anderson was fast time with a 21.706. Anderson took the trophy dash while Maleesa Miles hung on to win the heat. Kadence Mace led the first lap of the 15-lap main event. Lap two saw Anderson take over. From that point on, Anderson was able to run away from the rest of the field to victory lane. Miles placed second followed by Mace, Trey Daniels and Aiden Kimberling.

The NorthCoast Lighting & Electric Legends division had a great turnout for the evening. Chris Lawrence has become the main to beat in the division this season. His qualifying time of 18.133 was fastest of all. Tyler Peach was the heat race winner while the two heat races were won by Katina Baker and Lawrence.

The main event was a race to see how fast the quicker qualifiers would be able to maneuver through the field. Kylie Daniels showed great speed and led the majority of the race. Lawrence quickly sliced through the field to get second on lap five. Daniels and Lawrence had a fantastic battle for the lead with both drivers displaying great patience. On lap 19, Lawrence took the lead and was able to pull away. At the finish it was Lawrence beating Daniels, Peach, Tyler Krupa and Katina Baker.

The Humboldt Hydroponics mini stocks had a special 40-lap main event on the night. Brian Murrell, Sr. was quickest in qualifying with a time of 18.846. Gary Klientobe took the trophy dash win. Heat race victories were claimed by Jordan Paiment and Klientobe. Paiment took the lead at the start of the main event. Things got jumbled five laps into the race when Brett Murrell’s hood got loose and blocked his windshield. While he was able to get to the pits, Paiment was able to put a major gap on the field while faster qualifiers like Murrell, Sr. and Eugene Palmer lost significant track position.

It appeared as nobody had a chance of catching Paiment but a caution flag on lap 20 completely changed the complexion of the race. Klientobe cut a tire and spun out. Then a battle for second between Trevor Eacret and Scott Taylor resulted in Eacret’s truck being disabled, bringing out the caution. Paiment still held the lead on the restart but had Taylor and Palmer right on his heels. As the race drew closer to the checkered flag, things tightened up at the front. On the last lap, Paiment and Taylor were nose-to-tail going into the first turn. Coming off turn two, Taylor got into the back of Paiment who spun. Third place Palmer also got collected. Murrell, Sr. was able to get through the mess and was able to cross the finish line first after being in the fourth position on the white flag lap. Klientobe was able to recover from his flat tire to get second. The next three positions were determined by scoring on the previous lap as none of the drivers were able to make it back to the line. Paiment was credited with third over Palmer and Taylor.

Following the mini stock main event was the crowd-pleasing boat race. At the end of the carnage, the top three finishers were winner Armand Deny, second place Matt Taylor and third place Mark Murray.

The next race in the 2018 season for Redwood Acres Raceway is Saturday July 7th. The big event for the evening will be the Don Graham Memorial Firecracker 100 for the Mid-City Motor World late models. There will be a test and tune on Friday July 6th. Another big event will happen after the races with a spectacular fireworks display.

Friday Night Is Fair Night At Redwood Acres Raceway

Eureka, CA (June 18, 2018) – One of the highlight races of Redwood Acres Raceway’s 2018 season is set for the end of the work week. It’s a special Friday night race at the 3/8-mile paved raceway. Four of Redwood Acres Raceway’s six divisions will be in action with the exception of the bombers and late models. The race is sponsored by Pepsi, Del Reka Distributing and Humboldt Lighting. In addition to the racing, RAR will be hosting the first boat race of 2018 just after racing concludes.

Racing in the Bandolero division has been very exciting in its debut season. Leading in the standings is Aiden Kimberling who has been steady and consistent so far this season. Lane Anderson has been one of the top drivers to beat in 2018 and he’s second, 20 points behind Kimberling. Kadence Mace is third but 44 points behind Kimberling. Maleesa Miles won the most recent race on June 9th but is 75 points behind the leader. Trey Daniels rounds out the top five.

The race for the track championship in the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners looks to be in Nick Ford’s hands. Ford has a substantial 65-point lead over second place Amanda Lohr and Lindsey Zito who are tied. Ronny Crump sits fourth, 10 points behind the duo in second and Tim Ratzlaff is fifth.

The championship battle in the NorthCoast Lighting & Electric Legends division is similar to the roadrunner class as Chris Lawrence has a lead of 31-points over second place Tyler Peach. Aiden Daniels is third, 52-points behind the leader. Katina Baker and Tyler Krupa are fourth and fifth in the standings.

Jim Redd has a firm grasp in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bomber division. He leads Ryan Walters by 51 markers. Wyatt Roach is 53 points behind Redd in third. Sam Brown is fourth but 71 points behind Redd. Doug Way currently is placed fifth, eight points behind Brown. The bombers will return for the July 7th event.

The tightest championship battle this season is in the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stock class. Only two points separate first and second with Brian Murrell, Sr. having the edge on Eugene Palmer. Scott Taylor’s consistency from last year has transferred to this year. He is third in the standings. Trevor Eacret won his first main event this season and he is fourth. Gary Klientobe finishes out the top five point leaders.

Mic Moulton has won all three NorthCoast Lighting & Electric feature events for the Mid-City Motor World late model division. In spite of that, Moulton’s lead over David Henderson in second place is only 14 points. 2018 has been a very difficult year thus far for Marty Walsh but in spite of his bad luck, Walsh is third in the standings. Dane Nissen is fourth in points and Kenny Demello is fifth. The late models will be in action on July 7th for the Don Graham Memorial Firecracker 100.

As always, front gates on Friday will open at 5:00 PM while racing starts at 5:30 PM. Motor sports at Redwood Acres Raceway won’t end Friday evening. On Saturday June 23rd, RAR will host a special Tractor Pull event. Pre-sale tickets are available at www.RedwoodAcresRacing.com/tickets which includes entrance to the fair and grandstands, a chance to do a meet and greet, VIP entry into the grandstands and VIP seating.

Moulton Wins Third Race In A Row

#10 Mic Moulton made it three-for-three in the Super Six Challenge Series main event

Eureka, CA (June 10, 2018) – Racing returned to Redwood Acres Raceway on Saturday for the fourth race of the 2018 season. All six divisions were in action for Renner Petroleum Night at the Races including the Super Six Late Model Challenge Series cars which last raced on May 12th.

Fast time for the Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners was Daniel Buell with a 20.565. Main event one was dominated by Buell. Tim Ratzlaff got past Buell on lap eight but had to surrender the lead on lap 10 as he broke the 21-second barrier. Buell was able to pull out a substantial lead while Ratzlaff had to do all he could to close in on the leader. Ratzlaff finally caught up to Buell with three laps remaining and maneuvered by to take the lead. At the checkered flag it was Ratzlaff winning over Buell, Ronny Crump, Lindsey Zito and Allan Anderson.

Zito led the field to the green in the second main but Nick Ford quickly took over. Ford led up to lap 11 until he broke the 21-second rule and had to give up the lead to Ratzlaff. The three cars of Ratzlaff, Buell and Ford had a great battle for the lead. With four laps remaining, Buell was able to take over the lead. He was able to maintain that lead from that point on to take the victory. Ratzlaff took second while Crump, Ford and Jacob Wilkinson rounded out the top five.

Lane Anderson set fast time for the Bandolero cars. Anderson took the trophy dash win while Maleesa Miles was the heat race winner. Miles and Anderson had a spectacular race from the drop of the green flag. Anderson dogged Miles all race long. Miles got loose on a few occasions but was able to maintain the lead on Anderson. The two drivers were never more than less than a car-length apart. At the finish it was Miles winning flag-to-flag just narrowly over Anderson and Kimberling.

Qualifying for the NorthCoast Lighting & Electric was paced by Chris Lawrence at a 18.241. The trophy dash was won by Tyler Peach while the two head races went to Brandon White and Lawrence. Katina Baker took over the lead for the first four laps before giving way to Lawrence. His closest competition came from White. Lapped traffic played a role in the last half of the race. White was able to close in on Lawrence several times, including finding himself inside of Lawrence. In spite of White’s pressure, Lawrence kept his cool and was able to cross the line first at the finish. White placed second while Aiden Daniels, Wyatt Hobart and Baker finished the top five.

Ryan Walters was the fastest in qualifying for the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bombers at a 18.332. Sam Brown won the trophy dash after Walters and Jim Redd got together. Walters recovered to take the heat race win. Wyatt Roach took the lead and he and Walters had a race-long fight for the lead. Walters stayed on Roach’s bumper and with less than five laps remaining it appeared as thought he was going to make a serious challenge for the lead. With three laps to go, Walters got loose coming off turn four allowing Roach to pull away. At the finish it was Roach winning. Walters, Redd, Bethany Rapp and Brown rounded out the top five finishers.

In the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stocks, Brian Murrell, Sr. was quick time setting an 18.899 qualifying effort. The trophy dash was won by Gary Klientobe while the heat race victors were Trevor Eacret and Eugene Palmer. Several caution flags slowed the feature event. The most notable when it appeared Klinetobe hit the wall between turns one and two. Eacret led most of the race but had his hands full with Murrell, Sr. who was right in his mirror. Murrell, Sr. swept into the lead with five laps remaining. Murrell, Sr. was able to hang on to the lead and take the win over Palmer, Eacret, Brian Murrell, Jr. and Jordan Paiment.

Fast time for the Mid-City Motor World Super Six Challenge Series late model cars was David Henderson 15.874. The first heat was won by Kenny Demello while Marty Walsh’s win in the second heat granted him pole position for the main event. The 60-lap feature event presented by NorthCoast Lighting & Electric was slowed from the start when Scott Baker got loose crossing the start line and sliding into the mud created by rain earlier in the day. The restart was clean and Walsh immediately jumped to the lead. David Henderson slotted into the second position and did his best to try and chase down Walsh. As the laps clicked off, it appeared as though Walsh had the race-winning car. He had a substantial advantage over Henderson and the rest of the field. Mic Moulton passed Henderson on lap 30 and made his try to challenge Walsh.

At lap 40, it was heartbreak for Walsh as his car lost power down the straightaway. Moulton moved to the lead while Walsh had to limp his car to the pits. Henderson made one last run on Moulton in the final five laps but time ran out for him. Moulton was able to take the victory, his third straight of 2018. Henderson was second. Dennis DelBiaggio was third in his first race of the season. Kenny Demello was fourth while Ken Hallis had a solid run with a fifth.

Racing returns to Redwood Acres Raceway in two weeks. The event will be a special one as it will be on Friday June 22nd. The late models and bombers will have the night off while the rest of RAR’s divisions will be in action. The first boat race of the year will conclude the event. More horsepower will be displayed the following night Saturday June 23rd as tractor pulls are the featured event. VIP tickets are available on Redwood Acres Raceway’s website, www.RedwoodAcresRacing.com/tickets More information about the tractor pulls can be found at www.mlm-motorsports.com You can also visit Redwood Acres Raceway on Facebook www.facebook.com/RedwoodAcresRaceway

Eureka, CA (June 4, 2018) – After a week off, racing returns this Saturday June 9th for Renner Petroleum Night at The Races. The usual divisions of roadrunners, Bandoleros, bombers, mini stocks and Legends will return to the track for the fourth race of the season. It will be the third race of 2018 for the Super Six Late Model Challenge Series cars as their most recent race was May 12th.

The Compass Community Credit Union roadrunner division point standings are led by Nick Ford. He has a sizable advantage of 37 points over second place, Patrick Sproul. Lindsey Zito is third with Dylan Ford fourth and Amanda Lohr fifth in her rookie season.

Redwood Acres Raceway’s newest division, the Bandoleros has seen some exciting action thus far in 2018. Aiden Kimberling has been steady thus far and holds the lead for the track championship. Kadence Mace is second but only two points behind Kimberling. Lane Anderson has two main event wins in 2018 and is third in the standings. Trey Daniels and Malessa Miles round out the top five.

Jim Redd is running away with the Fortuna Wheel & Brakes bomber division. Redd has avoided disaster so far in 2018 and has a comfortable 54-point lead over Nick Green and Sam Brown who are tied for second in the standings. Ryan Walters is tied with Wyatt Roach for fourth in points.
Chris Lawrence has used his experience to lead in the NorthCoast Lighting and Electric Legends division. He has one main event win this year and leads Tyler Peach by 18 points. Tyler Krupa was involved in an incident in the main event on May 27th but still is third in the standings. Brent Mack is fourth, a point behind Krupa and rookie driver Aiden Daniels is fifth.

The battle for the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stock track championship is likely to come down to the last lap of the last race of the season. Eugene Palmer has won twice this season but only has an advantage of five points over Brian Murrell, Sr. Trevor Eacret is further back, 24 points behind Palmer while Scott Taylor is a point behind Eacret. Gary Klientobe is fifth and he is also a single point behind Taylor.

The Mid-City Motor World Super Six Late Model Challenge Series has been dominated by Mic Moulton. The late model veteran has won both races in 2018. However, second place Dane Nissen is still within striking distance. Nissen is 11 points behind Moulton. David Henderson is third and will be one of the favorites on Saturday night. Things haven’t gone the way Marty Walsh has hoped in 2018 but he has plenty of time to make up his 21-point deficit. Tim Crenshaw is fifth in the standings, 31 markers behind Moulton.

Front gates open for Renner Petroleum Night at the Races at 5:00 PM while racing starts at 5:30 PM. Full point standings, rules and more can be found at RAR’s website www.RedwoodAcresRacing.com You can also visit www.facebook.com/RedwoodAcresRaceway for information on this Saturday’s events.

Philpot wins in the North State Modified Series first visit to the Acres

#57 Eric Johnson finished second to Jason Philpot in the North State Modified Series' feature race

Eureka, CA (May 28, 2018) – It was O’Reilly Night at the Races this past weekend at Redwood Acres Raceway. It was a special Sunday show for Memorial Day weekend which featured five of RAR’s local divisions as well as the North State Modified Series who were making their first of three visits to the track.

Kadence Mace was fast time for the Bandoleros with a 22.375. Aiden Kimberling was the trophy dash winner while Trey Daniels took the heat race. The 15-lap main event was dominated by Daniels. He jumped to the lead on lap one and never looked back. Daniels took the victory ahead of Kimberling and Mace.

The Compass Community Credit Union roadrunners were paced by Nick Ford in qualifying as his time was 20.449. Tim Ratzlaff got the lead right from the drop of the green flag of the first main event. Ratzlaff dominated, so much so that he broke the 21-second barrier on lap 12. This moved Patrick Sproul to the point and it looked as though the race fell into his hands. Ratzlaff had other plans as he charged hard to regain the lead. With two laps remaining, Ratzlaff retook the lead and was able to pull away. At the finish it was Ratzlaff, Sproul, Ford, Landon Newell and Ronny Crump.

Ratzlaff took the lead at the start of the second feature event. Sproul took over on lap two and had a race-long battle with Nick Ford for the win. As the finish came closer, Sproul led with three laps remaining. The next lap, Ratzlaff who had stayed closely behind the two leaders made a move for the lead. The maneuver paid off as he was able to take the lead. Ratzlaff crossed the line first sweeping both feature events. Ford, Sproul, Newell and Crump rounded out the top five.

Derek Copeland was quick time in the NorthCoast Lighting and Electric Legends division with a 17.873. Copeland followed up with wins in the trophy dash. Heat race wins went to Kylie Daniels and Copeland. The lap one leader was Tyler Peach and he held on to the lead for five laps before Copeland took over. The most serious challenger to Copeland’s lead was Chris Lawrence. Just as Lawrence made an inside move for the lead, the yellow flag dropped. Copeland led the field to the restart and was able to go on unchallenged. At the finish it was Copeland winning over Lawrence, Peach, Katina Baker and Daniels.

In the Fortuna Wheel & Brake bombers, Wyatt Roach was fast time with an 18.331. Roach was the winner of the trophy dash and Jim Redd won the heat race. Redd moved to the lead on lap one. Roach proved to be Redd’s closest competition but fell out early. Redd was able to pull away from the field and lead the race flag-to-flag to win. Chris Naughton placed second, Doug Way third, Kolby Jackson fourth while Roach was scored fifth.

Brett Murrell set the fastest time in qualifying for the Humboldt Hydroponics mini stocks with a 18.769. Eugene Palmer was the dash winner while the heats went to Trevor Eacret and Murrell. Jordan Paiment led the first five laps of the feature event before Murrell took over the lead. Palmer moved to second the same lap and tried his best to stick to Murrell’s bumper. Murrell was able to gap Palmer enough that it appeared as though he was going to cruise to the victory. With one lap remaining, Murrell’s car failed moving Palmer to the lead. The last lap proved to be the only lap Palmer needed to lead as he won his first main event of 2018. Scott Taylor took second over Eacret, Gary Klientobe and Brian Murrell, Sr.

Randy Houston’s 16.514 in qualifying was the standard set in qualifying for the North State Modifieds. Ian Elliott took the victory in the six-lap Lucas Oil Dash For Cash. Eric Johnson led from the drop of the green flag of the 60-lap event. Jason Philpot followed into second and the first two ran-nose-to tail for several laps. Just past the halfway point, Philpot was able to maneuver past Johnson for the lead. The best battle on the track proved to be for second as Johnson did all he could to hold off Kris Price and Houston. Even after a couple of caution flags, Philpot was able to pull away while Johnson had his hands full with Houston and Price filling his mirror. Philpot was able to cruise to the checkered flag by over two seconds. Johnson held on for second over Price, Houston and Dustin DeRosier.

Racing at Redwood Acres Raceway returns Saturday June 9th. The Super Six Challenge Series late models will be returning to action along with the five other local divisions.
