Eureka, CA (September 29, 2019) – The inaugural season of championship racing for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts came to its conclusion this past Saturday afternoon at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds. There was plenty of excitement on the 1/8-mile dirt oval as championships in all six divisions were decided. The racing action was presented in honor and memory of the late Howard Ford who passed away in August.
Adam Myer set fast time for the PeeWee Predators with a 15.250. As has been the case since the division started mid-season, Leonard Ward IV was dominant. Ward was victorious in the heat race then followed up by leading the main event from start to finish to win. Tony Abeyta placed second over Raylan Ross and Adam Myer. Ross earned enough points to take the Peewee Predators championship by 24 points while Ward placed third in the standings.
Although Aaliyah Mitchell had already earned enough points to lock up the championship for the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks, there was still plenty to race for. Colin Wolfe was fast time with a 14.508. Wolfe followed up with a win in the heat race. The main event proved to be similar as Wolfe was able to jump to the lead from pole position and cruised to the win. Mitchell placed second with Destiny Lewis taking third. As previously mentioned, Mitchell was the division champion while Lewis took second and Danica Kinsey was third.
Jeffrey Smith was quickest of the Fortuna Wheel And Brake old fart karts with a 12.313. The division had perhaps its strongest field of the season and it showed in the heat race as Kenny Demello took the win. The main event saw highly competitive action. Demello led the opening 10 laps until Nick Ford began to make his presence felt. Ford took the lead on lap 11 but Demello fought back to lead the next two circuits. Ford regained the lead on lap 14 as Demello fell to third behind another Redwood Acres Raceway veteran, Chris Sarvinski. Ford led the rest of the way to take the feature win over Sarvsinki and Demello. Nicole Overholt took fourth while Smith placed fifth. Ford had already clinched the championship going into the event. Amanda Harpe placed second in the championship standings with Scott Proctor third.
Leonard Ward’s time of 11.716 in qualifying for the Miclette Family Racing pure stocks was the fastest. Ward followed up with the heat race victory. Pete Miclette moved to the lead at the start but he and Ward got locked together while working lap two going down the back stretch. The issues allowed David Alves to jump to the lead and he was able to pull out to a huge advantage as Shawn Andrews moved to second while Miclette and Ward dropped to third and fourth. Alves slowly built his lead while Miclette and Ward tried to recover. Miclette moved by Andrews for second on lap eight while Ward got to third a lap later. With clear track between he and Alves, Miclette slowly closed in on the lead. Unfortunately for him, Alves’ lead was too great and his pace was more or less equal. At the finish it was Alves winning over Miclette, Ward, Andrews and Michael Lawrence. Ward took the pure stock championship by 12 points over Pete Miclette. Lawrence was third in the standings followed by Alves and Jordan Miclette.
Dryver Dothage clinched the championship for the Wes Green Landscaping 250s in qualifying with the fastest lap of 10.009. Dothage won the heat race. The feature event was slowed several times due to spins. Brady Osborne, Sonya Osborne, Lily Williamson and MKinzy Uselton each had turns going around. Dothage avoided disaster and was able to nail each restart to perfection to win the main event. Uselton finished second with Williamson third, Brady Osborne fourth and Sonya Osborne fifth. Dothage was 250 champion over Uselton, Landen Green, Maleesa Miles and Williamson.
Qualifying for the Nor Cal Automotive 500s was paced by Tony Miles with a 10.373. Brad Curtice of Nor Cal Automotive put up a special $25 bonus when to all 250 division drivers who raced with the 500s on the night. In addition, the purse for the top three finishers in the main event was $100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third. Miles was the heat race winner. The main event proved to be the best race of the season for the 500s. Miles moved to the lead at the start but Dryver Dothage was second by lap two. The front duo staged a fantastic nip-and-tuck duel for the lead as Dothage was all over Miles lap after lap. On lap 13, Miles drove into turn three and got too high. Dothage took full advantage of the opportunity and took the lead. Dothage slowly pulled away from Miles and was able to take the feature victory. Miles held on to second over MKinzy Uselton in third, Lily Williamson in fourth and Brady Osborn in fifth. Miles had already secured the division championship over Dax Williamson prior to the event.
The closest championship race for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts going into Saturday was in the Williamson Financial Group box stocks. Grant Proctor led the championship standings by one point over Dylan Combest. Proctor earned a valuable four points in qualifying by timing in fastest with a 11.374. Combest won the first heat race while Austin Bartholomew won the second. Combest’s win and Proctor’s third in the second heat meant that the gap between the two entering the feature was only three points.
Combest used pole position to his advantage to take the lead at the drop of the green in the feature event. Lap three saw Proctor avoid major disaster as several karts got together right in front of him while coming off the second turn. Bartholomew suffered the worst of it as his right rear axle was bent in the collision forcing him out of second position and off the track for the rest of the race. The race resumed with Combest leading Proctor and it became a cat-and-mouse game as each driver pushed their talents to the limit trying to keep up with each other while also safely maneuvering through slower traffic.
As the finish neared, lapped traffic became a bigger issue for the leaders with both Combest and Proctor knowing any mistake could cost them the championship. Timmy Walters moved by Proctor on lap 16 but Proctor was able to retake the position on lap 18. Combest had his hands full at the white flag as he continued to try to safely maneuver through traffic. Proctor was able to gain going down the backstretch and a spin in turn three forced both drivers to make a choice of how they would get to the finish. Combest went low with Proctor going high. The two flat-footed their karts to the finish with Combest winning by inches over Proctor. Walters was third followed by Jack Myer and Grant Williamson. Proctor’s second place finish helped him fend off Combest in the championship standings as he was able to secure the title by only two points. Bartholomew was third in the final standings while Walters and Corbin Green rounded out the top five.
Even though the championship season has ended for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts in 2019, the season still has one more event. The final race of the season is Saturday October 12. Championship Season Concludes Saturday For Humboldt Outlaw Karts
Eureka, CA (September 25, 2019) – The inaugural season of championship racing for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts will come to a head Saturday as champions will be officially crowned in all seven divisions. This weekend’s event will be presented in honor and in memory of Northern California late model star Howard Ford who passed away recently. Following the races, championship winners and all participants will be celebrated with a family awards barbecue.
The PeeWee Predators were a mid-season addition to the Humboldt Outlaw Karts and have provided great racing since the division’s debut in late June. Raylan Ross holds a strong 24-point lead over Adam Myer. Leonard Ward IV is 35 points behind Ross but out of the running for the division crown.
The championship in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box division has already been decided as Aaliyah Mitchell’s 64-point advantage over Danica Kinsey is more than enough to secure her number one position. Destiny Lewis in third is 13 points behind Kinsey and still has the opportunity to advance in the final standings.
It’s a similar situation in the Fortuna Wheel And Brake old fart kart division as Nick Ford is 50 points ahead of second place Amanda Harpe. 24 points separate Harpe and Scott Proctor in third and it will be unlikely that those positions change Saturday.
Leonard Ward has also been a dominant force in the Miclette Family Racing pure stocks but in spite of it, his lead over second place Pete Miclette is not as comfortable as he would probably like. The margin is only 11 points. Jordan Miclette in third is out of the championship running as he is 35 points behind Ward. Michael Lawrence in fourth is hoping to move to third as he is nine points behind Jordan Miclette. David Alves is fifth in the standings.
The Nor Cal Automotive 500cc championship has been wrapped by by Tony Miles. Dax Williamson in second is 38 points out of the lead, too much to make up in one race. Cliff Myer is third in points. Though the track championship for the 500s has been decided, there is still plenty on the line Saturday. Brad Curtice of Nor Cal Automotive has put up a special bonus to entice 250 drivers to participate with the 500s. All 250 racers who race with the 500s on Saturday will receive $25. In addition to the regular payout, the feature winner will receive $100 with $50 for second place and $25 for third.

Local Racing Community Keeps Uselton’s 2019 Season Alive
Eureka, CA (August 22, 2019) - Thanks to the kindness of two fellow racers and a fan, MKinzy Uselton's 2019 season in Redwood Acres Raceway's Legends division will continue.
In her most previous race at RAR on July 20, Uselton was involved in a scary incident which ended up sending her to the hospital. Uselton was uninjured but her blue and yellow #29 Legend car was severely bent to the point where she was going to be unable to compete in the final few events for the season because the damage was so significant.
Thanks to a couple folks in the local racing community, Uselton’s season will be able to continue.
Redwood Acres Raceway Legends division points leader, Leonard Ward offered to sell Uselton a brand-new Legends chassis at a considerable discount. In addition, RAR late model star Luke Hall also pitched in to help in the purchase. Andrew Dilts Trucking also stepped in to assist Uselton’s race team with parts for the new ride. The end result will allow Uselton to return to the track and finish out the season at RAR.
Uselton is currently fifth in the Legends division standings after missing the most recent event on August 10. Not being able to partake in that night’s races dropped her down from third in the standings. The new car will allow her to hopefully finish the year in the top five in points. Though Uselton is eliminated from winning the track championship, she still has a legitimate chance of moving back to third.
Only two races are left on the schedule for Uselton on the Acres pavement with events on September 7 and September 21. The September 7 race will be Fan Appreciation Night at RAR and will be a good chance for fans to meet MKinzy and see her new car. MKinzy will be behind the wheel of her 250cc outlaw kart September 28 and October 12 as the season for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts also nears its conclusion.

Proctor Scores Important Box Stock Feature Win
Eureka, CA (August 18, 2019) – Only two points races remained for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts going into Saturday’s race. Action was aplenty on the 1/8-mile dirt bullring at Redwood Acres with championship competitors doing all they could to score points and those not in the running hoping of taking wins. Dustin Walters Trucking and Fortuna Wheel & Brake presented the all of the fun.
Leonard Ward IV was fast time for the PeeWee Predator division with a 15.725. Ward went on to win in both the heat race and the feature race. Raylan Ross placed second.
Colin Wolfe’s 14.359 in qualifying made him fastest in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks. Aaliyah Mitchell won what proved to be a wild heat race. The main event featured its share of action as well. Danica Kinsey took the lead on lap one but faced a stiff challenge from Wolfe on lap seven. The two tangled bringing out a caution and putting Mitchell in the lead. Racing resumed and Mitchell held on until the last lap when she and Kinsey got together. Wolfe was able to sneak by to take the lead and he was able to cross the finish line first over Kinsey and Mitchell.
Kenny Demello is a long-time veteran having raced for many years at Redwood Acres Raceway. Saturday was his first time behind the wheel of a Fortuna Wheel & Brake old fart kart. Nevertheless, Demello’s experience showed as he timed in fastest with a 12.529. Nick Ford won the heat. Demello jumped to the lead at the start of the feature and was able to win unchallenged, breaking Ford’s season-long stranglehold of main event wins. Ford placed second followed by Nicole Overholt and Michael Lawrence.

Ward took the lead on lap one and looked to have the race in hand. On lap seven while looking to put a lap on Jordan Miclette, Ward got high off turn two and spun resulting in a yellow and putting Pete Miclette in the lead. Ward was able to maneuver back to second the first lap after the restart but appeared to be having issues with his kart. Miclette was able to slowly pull away from Ward as the race wore on and at the finish his advantage was a little over two seconds over Ward. Michael Lawrence was third followed by Jordan Miclette and Dakota Ward.
Tony Miles’ 10.825 was fastest for the Nor Cal Automotive 500s in qualifying. Maleesa Miles won the heat over her father Tony. The opening two laps of the main were led by Tony Miles but Maleesa Miles moved to the lead on lap three. The race was slowed several times due to spins. Dax Williamson had to pull his 500 into the pits on lap 11. On lap 14, Tony Miles also was forced into the pits. With only 250 drivers remaining on the track and not racing for points, officials threw the checkered with Maleesa Miles winning over MKinzy Uselton, Landen Green, Lily Williamson and Derek Kessler. Tony Miles was scored sixth with Dax Williamson seventh.

Combest moved to the lead for the first two laps but contact with Walters allowed Proctor to edge to the front. Combest fell as far back as seventh on lap seven and had his hands full trying to prevent his title rival Proctor from gaining any more points and positions on him. Corbin Green and Austin Bartholomew traded second position twice in the race with Green getting the position on lap 14. The last lap featured a wild battle for second with Green losing the position to Combest. The position changed hands again in the final turn when Bartholomew was able to snake by Combest. At the line it was Proctor winning while Bartholomew was able to beat Combest back to the line for second. Green finished fourth while Grant Williamson was fifth.
Fast time for the Wes Green Landscaping 250s was Landen Green with a 10.537. Dryver Dothage took the heat race victory. Dothage dominated the first half of the main event but the outcome of the race was determined by restarts. Derek Kessler, Maleesa Miles, MKinzy Uselton, Lily Williamson and Green were all involved in early race incidents or spins that shuffled the field.
With the field lined up for a lap 10 restart, officials deemed Dothage got into the gas before the restart cone in turn four two times in a row. Because of this, Dothage was sent to the rear while Green inherited the lead. Green jumped the subsequent restart but started the next appropriately and moved to the lead. Dothage was patiently aggressive as he tried to maneuver through the field as quickly as possible without incident. Dothage got to second with four laps left but the gap between he and Green was too much to overcome in such a short span. Green was able to take the win over Dothage, Miles, Kessler and Uselton.
The next race for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th. As mentioned, it will be the final points race of the season. An awards barbecue will follow the events on that day to celebrate division champions and everyone who has participated with the Humboldt Outlaw Karts in 2019. At the line it was Proctor winning while Bartholomew was able to beat Combest back to the line for second. Green finished fourth while Grant Williamson was fifth.
Fast time for the Wes Green Landscaping 250s was Landen Green with a 10.537. Dryver Dothage took the heat race victory. Dothage dominated the first half of the main event but the outcome of the race was determined by restarts. Derek Kessler, Maleesa Miles, MKinzy Uselton, Lily Williamson and Green were all involved in early race incidents or spins that shuffled the field.
With the field lined up for a lap 10 restart, officials deemed Dothage got into the gas before the restart cone in turn four two times in a row. Because of this, Dothage was sent to the rear while Green inherited the lead. Green jumped the subsequent restart but started the next appropriately and moved to the lead. Dothage was patiently aggressive as he tried to maneuver through the field as quickly as possible without incident. Dothage got to second with four laps left but the gap between he and Green was too much to overcome in such a short span. Green was able to take the win over Dothage, Miles, Kessler and Uselton.
The next race for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th. As mentioned, it will be the final points race of the season. An awards barbecue will follow the events on that day to celebrate division champions and everyone who has participated with the Humboldt Outlaw Karts in 2019. Proctor, Combest Tied Going Into Saturday’s Humboldt Outlaw Kart Event
Eureka, CA (August 14, 2019) – The penultimate race of the 2019 championship season for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is set for this Saturday August 17. With only two points-paying races left on the schedule for this season, every position in every race is going to play a factor as to who wins and who loses track championships in each division. Dustin Walters Trucking and Fortuna Wheel & Brake will be presenting Saturday’s races which promises to feature can’t-miss racing action.
Adam Myer leads Raylan Ross by seven points in the PeeWee Predator class. Leonard Ward IV is third in the standings thanks to two feature wins.
Aaliyah Mitchell’s advantage in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks is a comfortable 44 points. Destiny Lewis has been impressive in her first season behind the wheel of an outlaw kart and she holds down that second position. Danica Kinsey has also shown marked improvement in 2019 as she is third in the standings. Mitchell and Kinsey each have two main event wins this season.

Combest Holds Off Proctor While Dothage Survives Wild 250 Feature
Eureka, CA (August 4, 2019) – Race four of the 2019 season for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts took place this past Saturday. John’s Used Cars & Wreckers was the presenting sponsor of the afternoon’s action and there proved to be no shortage of it on the day.
Leonard Ward IV was fast time for the PeeWee Predators with a 14.681. Ward followed up with the victory in the heat race. The main event was dominated from start to finish by Ward as he led all eight laps to take the win. Adam Myer followed in second with Raylan Ross and Tony Abeyta rounding out the finishers.
Aaliyah Mitchell’s 14.960 in time trials was the best for the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks. Danica Kinsey was the winner of the heat race. The 10-lap feature event was perhaps the best race of the season for the beginner box division as Kinsey and Uselton raced neck-and-neck from the drop of the green flag. Destiny Lewis lost momentum at the start but as the race wore on, she was able to gain ground on the leaders and was well in the fight in the final few laps. At the finish it was Kinsey holding off Uselton and Lewis for the win.
Fast time for the Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts was Nick Ford with a 12.896. Ford won the heat race. Johnny Lopez led the opening two laps of the 20-lap main before Ford was able to get by for the lead. The event slowed upon the completion of lap 15 when Amanda Harpe’s engine went up in smoke. Lopez regained the lead on the restart but Ford got back by Lopez and was able to hold on for the win.
Qualifying for the Miclette Family Motorsports pure stocks was paced by Pete Miclette with a 12.446 time. Leonard Ward took the heat race victory. Ward jumped to the lead at the start of the 20-lap feature event. Michael Lawrence’s day ended early thanks to mechanical issues that plagued his kart all day. With each lap, Ward was able to pull away a bit at the time from the pack to the point where he had a secure four second lead over second place. The finish saw Ward win over Pete Miclette, Jordan Miclette and David Alves. Lawrence was credited with fifth.
Dax Williamson set fast time for the Nor Cal Automotive 500s with an 11.157. Tony Miles won the heat race then followed up with the victory in the main event over Williamson.
The Williamson Financial Group box stocks has been the most competitive division for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts in 2019. Corbin Green timed in fastest with a 12.053 lap in qualifying. Dylan Combest prevailed to win the first heat race while Grant Proctor took the win in the second. Combest used pole position to his advantage as he jumped to the lead at the drop of the green of the 20-lap main. Proctor settled into second. The two title rivals were nose-to-tail going into lapped traffic when Proctor got tangled with Jack Myer bringing out a yellow. Racing resumed with both karts restarting at the rear.
A spin by Justin Bacon in the fourth turn resulted in a huge hit to the wall by Timmy Walters. Thankfully the incident looked and sounded much worse than it proved to be as Walters continued in the race without any serious damage to his kart. The race belonged to Combest as he was able to lead all 20 laps to win. Walters and Proctor were both able to recover to finish second and third. Green narrowly beat Austin Bartholomew for fourth.

2019 Season Winding Down For Humboldt Outlaw Karts
Eureka, CA (July 29, 2019) – Things are rapidly coming to a close for racers in all divisions for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts. While four races remain on the schedule, only two of them are points-paying events including the event this Saturday August 3. John’s Used Cars & Wreckers will present the action and championships in all divisions could very well be decided by the time the final checkered flag falls.
The PeeWee Predator division was a late addition to the Humboldt Outlaw Karts this season to give completely inexperienced youngsters an opportunity to learn how to get around the track. Adam Myer leads Raylan Ross by only six points. Leonard Ward IV holds the third position.
The Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stock championship appears to be in the hands of Aaliyah Mitchell as her advantage over second place Destiny Lewis is a nearly insurmountable 42 points. Destiny Lewis. Third place is held by Danica Kinsey who on the feature race on June 1.

Grant Proctor’s two feature wins in 2019 have him in the lead by four points over Dylan Combest who won the most recent race on June 23. Austin Bartholomew in fifth faces long odds but still is mathematically alive for the championship.

Uselton Plans To Overcome Adversity As 2019 Season Nears End
Eureka, CA (July 25, 2019) – 2019 has been a season of major change for young MKinzy Uselton. The Eureka native came into the year with a new confidence after participating in the Lakeport Indoor Outlaw Kart circuit through the winter months. That experience has helped carry her to perhaps her most successful season behind the wheel in her Legend car at Redwood Acres Raceway and her 250cc outlaw kart with the Humboldt Outlaw Karts.
That isn’t to say that there hasn’t been any bad luck this season. In fact, the worst of it took place in her most recent race in the Legends division at RAR on July 20 when contact sent her hard into the front stretch wall. While Uselton was able to get out of the car on her own, she went to the local hospital for precautionary measures. Everything proved fine in regards to her health however the damage done to her car was extensive enough that she will be unable to participate in the final three events at Redwood Acres Raceway this season. Sadly, that means that Uselton will not be able to potentially earn her best points finish as she is currently third in the division standings.
While her season in a Legends car has come to a premature end, Uselton still has four races left racing on the dirt in her 250cc outlaw kart with the Humboldt Outlaw Karts. Just as she has on the pavement in 2019, Uselton has also shown great improvement on the dirt with a new poise and sureness that has allowed her to be positioned second in the standings. Green Beats Dothage On Last Lap Restart
Eureka, CA (June 23, 2019) – The highly anticipated Redwood Acres Best Of Humboldt fair event took place Sunday for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts. Dave’s Auto Electric and Crawford Construction Specialty presented the afternoon event which saw great race and some spectacular finishes as well.
Because of a difference in experience levels, HOK officials decided to separate the less experienced drivers in the beginner box stock division for their own class, the PeeWee Predators. Leonard Ward IV was fast time for the PeeWees with a 20.692. Ward was victorious in the heat race. The heat race featured a fantastic duel for the lead and the race win between Ward and Adam Myer. The lead was traded between the two drivers three times in three laps with Ward getting the advantage over Myer. Myer looked to find a way back by Ward but didn’t have enough. At the finish it was Ward winning over Myer, Raylan Ross and Tony Abeyta.
The Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks were led in qualifying by Aaliyah Mitchell with a 15.215. Uselton won the heat but had her hands full in the main event thanks to Destiny Lewis. Lewis showed fantastic speed and amazing fearlessness behind the wheel in only her third race ever. Unfortunately for her, Mitchell’s poise and experience was able to come though as she was able to take the win with Lewis slamming the wall off turn four to place second. Both Lewis and her kart were not harmed.
The Williamson Financial box stock class is probably the most competitive division for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts and that was the case this week with Corbin Green setting fast time with an 11.773. Grant Proctor was victorious in the first heat which granted him pole position for the feature. Dylan Combest won heat two giving him outside pole position for the main. Several cautions slowed the action in the first 10 laps of the 20-lap main event.
Getting position on the restart was a premium and driver did everything they could to get an advantage. Unfortunately for Proctor after two restart attempts, officials sent him to the rear for jumping the start giving Combest the race lead. The race resumed with eight laps remaining with Combest leading, Austin Bartholomew while Proctor quickly moved to third. The front three karts were so evenly matched that that head-to-head passing was almost impossible. Proctor got back to second with three laps remaining but didn’t have enough time to seriously pressure Combest. At the checkered flag it was Combest winning over Proctor, Bartholomew, Janice Walters and Jack Myer.
The Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts had a fantastic turnout with Nick Ford pacing qualifying for the division with a 12.976. The heat race victory went to Ford. Ford was able to take the lead from the start while the race from second on back was much closer. Ford was able to lead from start to finish to take the victory. Amanda Harpe placed second with Johnny Lopez, Robbie Robinson and Scott Proctor rounding out the top five.
Leonard Ward was fast time for the Miclette Family Racing pure stocks with a time of 12.150. Ward was the heat race winner and the favorite for the main event win given his record. Dryver Dothage was fast time in the Wes Green Landscaping 250s with a 10.212. Dothage followed up his fast qualifying lap with a win in the heat race. A caution flew resulting in what would be a green, white, checkered finish with the green and white being thrown at the same time. Because of a difference in experience levels, HOK officials decided to separate the less experienced drivers in the beginner box stock division for their own class, the PeeWee Predators. Leonard Ward IV was fast time for the PeeWees with a 20.692. Ward was victorious in the heat race. The heat race featured a fantastic duel for the lead and the race win between Ward and Adam Myer. The lead was traded between the two drivers three times in three laps with Ward getting the advantage over Myer. Myer looked to find a way back by Ward but didn’t have enough. At the finish it was Ward winning over Myer, Raylan Ross and Tony Abeyta.
The Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks were led in qualifying by Aaliyah Mitchell with a 15.215. Uselton won the heat but had her hands full in the main event thanks to Destiny Lewis. Lewis showed fantastic speed and amazing fearlessness behind the wheel in only her third race ever. Unfortunately for her, Mitchell’s poise and experience was able to come though as she was able to take the win with Lewis slamming the wall off turn four to place second. Both Lewis and her kart were not harmed.
The Williamson Financial box stock class is probably the most competitive division for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts and that was the case this week with Corbin Green setting fast time with an 11.773. Grant Proctor was victorious in the first heat which granted him pole position for the feature. Dylan Combest won heat two giving him outside pole position for the main. Several cautions slowed the action in the first 10 laps of the 20-lap main event.
Getting position on the restart was a premium and driver did everything they could to get an advantage. Unfortunately for Proctor after two restart attempts, officials sent him to the rear for jumping the start giving Combest the race lead. The race resumed with eight laps remaining with Combest leading, Austin Bartholomew while Proctor quickly moved to third. The front three karts were so evenly matched that that head-to-head passing was almost impossible. Proctor got back to second with three laps remaining but didn’t have enough time to seriously pressure Combest. At the checkered flag it was Combest winning over Proctor, Bartholomew, Janice Walters and Jack Myer.
The Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts had a fantastic turnout with Nick Ford pacing qualifying for the division with a 12.976. The heat race victory went to Ford. Biggest Race Of The Season For The Humboldt Outlaw Karts Next Sunday
Eureka, CA (June 13, 2019) – For the second straight season, the Humboldt Outlaw Karts will be competing during the Redwood Acres Fair. Dave’s Auto Electric and Crawford Construction Specialties will be presenting the big event which will have a bit more prestige this season as it will be the first year the karts will be racing on the purpose-built 1/10-mile dirt Bullring. The outlaws will be a feature attraction on the final day of this year’s fair and will likely attract fans who have yet to experience the thrills provided by all of the divisions for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts.
Only one point separates the two leaders in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts. Scott Proctor is the man currently on the hot seat while Ford holds down second plate. Amanda Harpe is in third and only five points behind Proctor. Jeffrey Smith and Landen Green round out the top five.

Second and third place are Pete Miclette and Jordan Miclette and only four points is the margin. Michael Lawrence is fourth in the running, five points behind third place with Chris Lawrence fifth.
HOK officials have decided to split up the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stock to better accommodate all the young racers in the division. A pee-wee division will be set up for younger drivers who are learning how to drive their karts so they can be better prepared for more intense in-race competition. Raylan Ross is another two points in arrears to Willor in fourth while Danica Kinsey is fifth and won the most recent event on June 1.

Proctor Bests Combest For Second Box Stock Feature Win
Eureka, CA (June 3, 2019) – After rain washed out the scheduled event on May 18, racing for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts returned this past Saturday for the second event of the 2019 season. As always, racing in all six divisions proved to be both exciting and intense. Humboldt County 1st District Supervisor, Rex Bohn presented the events on what was a beautiful day at the 1/8-mile dirt Redwood Acres Bullring.
The Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks heat race was won by Danica Kinsey. Kinsey was behind the wheel of a beautiful new outlaw kart. The main event featured what very well may be a preview of how racing on the dirt and perhaps the pavement at Redwood Acres will be in the not too distant future. Kinsey and Aaliyah Mitchell waged a back and forth duel that was extinguished in the final laps when Kinsey was able to get into her rhythm. At the finish it was Kinsey winning over Mitchell. Destiny Lewis made it an all-female sweep of the top three positions. Cooper Willor placed fourth with Raylan Ross fifth.
There was a strong field of 12 Williamson Financial Group box stocks for the day. Dylan Combest was victorious in the first heat race while Janice Walters took the second. The 20-lap main event saw several incidents halt the opening circuits. Austin Bartholomew, Grant Williamson, Timmy Walters and Josiah Lewis were all forced to retire two laps into the race.
After having a wild back and forth race in the first race of the season on May 4, Combest and Grant Proctor were at it again with each driver given the other all they could handle. Unfortunately for Combest, Proctor was able to prevail once again. Combest was in Proctor’s hip pocket as the laps wound down but with both drivers running such a strong pace, Combest needed Proctor to make a slip which never happened. Proctor was able to hold off Combest to take his second win of the season. Chayce Smith recovered from the opening lap chaos to finish third. Janice Walters was fourth with Corbin Green taking fifth, the last of the lead lap drivers.

Humboldt Outlaw Kart Racers Hoping Mother Nature Smiles On Them This Saturday
Eureka, CA (May 27, 2019) – It’s been a longer than anticipated time away from the track for Humboldt Outlaw Kart drivers on the north coast but that is set to hopefully end this Saturday should the weather cooperate. Rain washed out the event that was previously scheduled for May 18. Thankfully, the forecast for the races at the Redwood Acres Bullring is scheduled to be clear and in the 60-degree range which should make for a fantastic day of action.

Wet Forecast Cancels Saturday’s Humboldt Outlaw Kart Event
Eureka, CA (May 14, 2019) – The scheduled Humboldt Outlaw Kart races that were scheduled for this Saturday May 18 have been cancelled. Dothage, Proctor Among Humboldt Outlaw Karts Opening Day Winners
Eureka, CA (May 7, 2019) – Champagne Attorney Service presented the opening event Saturday afternoon for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts. As has been the case since the karts moved to the 1/8-mile dirt bullring, the on-track action was both intense and entertaining.
The newest division for the HOK is the stock lawn mowers. An exhibition race took place to give fans an idea of what to expect as the class develops in the coming season.
The day belonged to Aaliyah Mitchell in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks. She dominated both the heat race and feature events, taking the main event win by three laps. While the rest of her competition was comprised of first-time rookie drivers, Mitchell’s victory was no less impressive. Following Mitchell in the finish of the main event were Adam Myer, Colin Wolfe and Raylan Ross.
It was a fantastic field for the Williamson Financial Services box stock class with 13 drivers participating. Grant Williamson was the winner of the first heat race while Grant Proctor won the second. Initially the box stock main event was going to feature the full field of karts but race officials decided to run a B main event would provide a safer and better overall racing environment.
The B feature saw fantastic racing between Corbin Green and Austin Bartholomew. Coming to the checkered flag, Green was able to narrowly beat Bartholomew for the win. Both drivers advanced to the feature race. The story of the main event was the battle for the race lead and the victory between Proctor and Dylan Combest. Both drivers were evenly matched in terms of green flag speed which meant the battle for position on the restarts proved to be a major influence in determining positions.
Proctor led the early stages before a mid-race caution bunched the field with Combest getting the jump and the lead. It appeared as though Combest was going to take the victory but another caution forced another restart. Proctor was able to get the best of Combest to retake the lead. The rest of the race went caution-free with Proctor holding off Combest for the win. Bartholomew placed third with Janice Walters fourth and Chayce Smith fifth.
Amanda Harpe narrowly beat out Nick Ford in the heat race for the Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts. The main event saw Ford take the lead early and dominate the rest of the way. At the finish it was Ford beating Landon Green and Jeffrey Smith.
In heat race action for the Miclette Family Motorsports pure stocks, it was Leonard Ward taking the win. The feature race proved to be no different as Ward dominated and crossed the finish line with a 4.5 second advantage over second place Chris Lawrence. Pete Miclette, Jordan Miclette and Michael Lawrence rounded out the top five finishers.
Young Dryver Dothage has moved from driving a box stock outlaw to a Wes Green Landscaping 250cc kart. He looked very comfortable behind the wheel, winning the heat race. The caution flew several times in the feature but the slow downs did little to deter Dothage as he was able to control the race and take the victory. Maleesa Miles and MKinzy Uselton placed second and third and both showed great improvement behind the wheel since the end of the 2018 season. Two more female talents rounded out the top five in Sonya Osborne and Lily Williamson.
The Nor Cal Automotive 500cc heat race and main event wins went to Tony Miles. Dax Williamson placed second in both races.

Uselton Has High Hopes For 2019
Eureka, CA (May 1, 2019) – The 2019 season is looking bright for young MKinzy Uselton. The teenage driver will be racing in her fifth season behind the wheel of a Legends car at Redwood Acres Raceway while also competing on the dirt in her 250cc outlaw kart with the Humboldt Outlaw Karts.
Uselton’s season has already started with the first race of the year at Redwood Acres Raceway on April 27. She had a very solid run in the feature event for the division with a sixth-place effort. Uselton will also be racing this Saturday May 4 in the first race of the season for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts.

Humboldt Outlaw Kart Season Starts This Weekend
Eureka CA (May 1, 2019) – The first of eight scheduled races for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is set for this weekend Saturday May 4. Steve’s Septic Service and Wes Green Landscaping will be presenting the events throughout 2019. The familiar six divisions will take to the track as well as a brand-new division.
This weekend will feature the debut of the Stock Lawn Mower class. Lawn Mower racing has been very popular over the years and it will be the first time that these machines will be regularly racing for points and a championship.
The Champagne Attorney Services beginner box stocks are the entry division for younger and inexperienced racers. The division always presents excitement as drivers begin to learn the ropes of what it takes to get around the track.
The Williamson Financial box stocks are the next step up from the beginner box stocks. The karts are essentially the same with the box stocks having more horsepower. There are more experienced drivers behind the wheel and the faster speeds provide exciting racing.
Fortuna Wheel And Brake presents the fart karts. The division is aimed at adults and a more relaxed feel compared to the other divisions. However, that doesn’t mean that the drivers in the fart karts don’t race less hard or the excitement is any less.
The Miclette Family Motorsports pure stocks are different from the HOK’s other kart divisions. These karts are cageless which helps provide fans the opportunity to see how the drivers react through the turns and track conditions.
The Wes Green Landscaping 250s are a jump in speed from the other karts. These karts are designed as the next step in the ladder from the box stocks. The speeds are higher and more noticeable as 250 drivers learn to handle karts with more horsepower.
HOK’s final division are the NorCal Automotive 500s. These karts are the premier division for racers from all over the United States. Perhaps the most interesting think about 500 karts is the varying ages of drivers. A young teenager can race an adult and be just as if not more competitive which is a rarity in sports.

Season Two Of Humboldt Outlaw Karts On The Horizon For 2019
Eureka, CA (January 28, 2019) – After a successful first season for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts in 2018, the series will return once more for 2019 at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds. New years typically see changes in most forms of motorsports and for HOKs it will be no different as there will be improvements and additions for the upcoming year.
2018 was a year for change for outlaw kart racers in the region. The first was the creation of the Humboldt Outlaw Kart organization which wanted to not only continue on maintaining outlaw kart racing in the area but wanted to better it. Halfway through the season, the series moved from its previous home, the 1/10-mile dirt oval inside of the Redwood Acres Raceway 3/8-mile paved oval. The new track stayed on the fairground’s property, taking over the former bullring with a 1/8-mile dirt track in its place. The new track not only provided a spectacular setting for the racing action but also gave the outlaw racers their own place that they could be proud of.
The six divisions that drivers and racers have come to love will be returning in 2019. That includes the Champagne Attourney Service beginner box stocks, the Williamson Financial Group box stocks, the Miclette Family Racing pure stocks, the Fortuna Wheel & Brake old fart karts, the Wes Green Landscape Materials 125-250cc karts and the NorCal Automotive 500cc/open karts. A new division will be added for the season with the addition of the stock lawn mowers. It will be the first full season of lawn mower racing at any Northern California facility and the division should quickly develop a hardy fanbase based on its popularity all over the country.
2019 will also mark the first year of a full season-long points championship battle for all divisions. Since outlaw kart racing started at Redwood Acres in 2016, each event has been a stand-alone race that did not count toward an overall championship. The addition of a championship will likely add to the on-track action and will make winning, finishing and showing up every race even more important than in previous seasons.
The schedule for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts in 2019 is still tentative. Currently a test and tune is scheduled for April 20 with the seasoning opening race taking place Saturday May 4. Other race dates include May 18, June 1, June 20, August 3, August 17 and September 28. All events will be Saturday races with the June 20 race being held on a Thursday to coincide with the opening day of the Redwood Acres Fair. The season is set to conclude on October 12. A full and official schedule for 2019 will be released in the very near future.
Other exciting news for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts will be the return of electronic scoring for every division with the X2 timing data system. Having electronic scoring was a necessity in regards to having a year-long championship but it will also allow drivers to follow timing and scoring in real time while also keeping track of lap times and finish results. The scoring system will allow for the return of qualifying in all divisions as well.
A pre-season meeting for everyone interested in the 2019 season for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is scheduled for Thursday January 31 at 6:30 PM at Angelo’s Pizza parlor located at 215 7th Street in Eureka. It will be an opportunity for everyone to outline the upcoming year of racing while also allowing newcomers to get insight to whatever questions that they might have.

New Bullring Track Proves To Be A Big Hit For Humboldt Outlaw Kart Racers

Eureka, CA (August 26, 2018) – The highly anticipated debut of the new 1/8-mile dirt venue took place this past Saturday at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds. It was an exciting afternoon for all involved as a ribbon cutting ceremony prior to the action on the track took place at the start/finish line. The new track’s location on the fairground’s property took the place of the previous rodeo arena giving Redwood Acres and outlaw kart racers their own permanent bullring track. The Mill Yard sponsored the racing action which not only celebrated a new beginning of racing in Northern California but also the hard work and dedication of many volunteers who helped made the track become a reality.
Chayce Smith took the victory in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stock division. The feature event got off to a slow start with two multiple-kart incidents on the initial two restarts. The third restart saw Smith jump to the race lead and he never looked back. At the finish it was Smith taking the win over Jack Myer, Danica Kinsey and Aaliyah Mitchell.
The Williamson Financial Group box stocks had a nice turnout of karts which necessitated two heat races. Grant Williamson won the first heat while Timmy Walters took the second. Dylan Combest had issues in his heat which prevented him from finishing but that did nothing to slow him at the start of the main event as he led early over Brady Osborne. Derrick Kessler, Jr. was able to maneuver to the lead just as a spin by Sonya Osborne slowed the field. Combest got a great restart and took the lead back from Kessler, Jr. Austin Bartholomew was beginning to make his way to the front as he entered third place in the middle stages of the race but a spin off turn two ended his chance at victory. Combest led the restart and was able to pull away from the pack while second on the back shuffled from lap to lap. At the finish it was Combest winning over Janice Walters. Brady Osborne was third with Mitchell Matteoli fourth and Williamson fifth.
The new raceway looked to be a better fit for the faster Wes Green Landscaping 125/250cc karts. Landen Green has been the dominant driver in the division and he was able to easily transition from the 1/8-track the karts previous raced on to the new track with a win in the heat race. Wyatt Burns briefly led the main event but a spin off turn two gave Green the lead. Nobody had anything for Green who was able to pull away from the pack of Maleesa Miles, MKinzy Uselton and Burns who traded second position several times. Green was able to bring it home first at the finish over Burns and Uselton while Miles was fourth but unable to finish the race due to mechanical issues.
Like the 125/250cc karts, the NorCal Automotive 500cc/open karts seemed to take to the new track very well. Tony Miles held on to take the heat race victory. The feature proved to be a battle of survival as every driver in the event seemed to have one mechanical issue or another. Miles looked to have the victory sewn up in the late stages when Dax Williamson was forced into the pits. Williamson was able to return and took the lead when Miles had issues with his kart. Miles returned and the two settled the race for the victory on the track. Miles jumped into the lead on the final restart and was able to beat Williamson to the finish. Gary Foster was third with Jordan Miclette fourth.
Nick Ford took the heat race victory in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake old fart karts. Chelsea Champagne jumped to the lead in the feature and was able to pull out to a substantial lead. Ford was likely her primary competition but he got hooked up with the hay bales off turn two which cost him almost a full lap to the leader Champagne. Ford ran as hard as he could as he was able to get by Sabrina Kinsey and Amanda Harp but without the aid of a caution he was unable to make up ground on the leader. Champagne cruised to the win over Ford, Harp and Kinsey.
Two competitors from Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division raced in the Miclette Family Racing pure stocks with point leader Chris Lawrence and Leonard Ward racing for the afternoon. Ward was able to take the heat race victory. Unfortunately, one of the competitors Ryan Ahrens had issues in the heat and was unable to start the feature race. Ward took the lead at the start of the main event and looked to have the race well in hand. A spin in turn four took Ward out of the lead and putting Lawrence up front. That was all Lawrence needed as he was able to lead from the restart to the checkered flag for the victory. Pete Miclette took second with Ward placing third.
Another race is still on the schedule for the 2018 Humboldt Outlaw Karts season on Saturday September 17th. HKR officials are also hoping to add an addition event before the year is over. New Track Will Provide New Challenge For Outlaw Kart Drivers
Eureka, CA (August 23, 2018) – It’s been a long two months for outlaw kart racers in the Humboldt County area. The most recent race occurred all the way back on June 21st during the Redwood Acres Fair. The delay between then and this Saturday was for good reason as this weekend’s Humboldt Outlaw Kart races will be the dawn of a new era for outlaw kart racing in the area.
A brand-new permanent 1/8-mile track has been built in place of the fairgrounds’ old rodeo arena which is in the southwest portion of Redwood Acres, adjacent to the BMX track. The previous 1/10-mile dirt circuit was located in the infield of the 3/8-mile paved Redwood Acres Raceway oval. However, other motorsport events necessitated the track having to be restored throughout the year. The new track will be to the benefit of racers and fans and the new, bigger track will provide a new challenge for the drivers. The Mill Yard will be presenting this Saturday’s races and all six divisions will be participating.
The beautiful new outlaw kart bullring would not have been possible without the hard work and support of numerous people. Humboldt Outlaw Karts Featured At Redwood Acres Fair
Eureka, CA (June 26, 2018) – The Humboldt Outlaw Karts had its biggest race of the season with Automotive Workshop & Fabrication presenting the night’s action. The June 21st race was a Thursday night special on opening night of the annual Redwood Acres Fair. In addition, entry to the event was free for fans. Many in attendance were able to see outlaw kart racing at Redwood Acres for the first time, including numerous young fans.
There was additional incentive for drivers in all six divisions. The top four finishers in the main event would enter a six-lap Dash 4 Cash race with the winner receiving $100.
The heat race for the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks was won by Corbin Green. The main event went green with Chayce Smith moving to the lead. A spin by Danica Kinsey bunched the field. There were several other cautions in the race including a multi-kart accident in turn four. Even with the restarts, Smith was able to pull away from the pack each time. At the finish it was Smith winning followed by Green, Aaliyah Mitchell, Kinsey and Myer. The Dash 4 Cash race was caution-filled but the end result was similar to the main event. Smith took the $100 victory over Green, Mitchell and Kinsey.
The Williamson Financial Group box stocks had two heat races with Dylan Combest winning the first heat and Brady Osborn taking the second. Colton Kinsey led the opening stages. Derek Kessler spun in turns three and four to bring out a yellow which brought the field together. Combest used the restart to his advantage as he was able to take the lead. Spins by Bryce Johnson and Sonya Osborn slowed the race. Under caution, Kinsey had issues which forced him to retire from the race. The restart saw Combest leading followed by Connor Jones and Janice Walters. In the final handful of laps, Walters slipped off the track costing her several positions. Combest was able to hold off Jones for the win. Timmy Walters was third followed by Brady Osborn and Sonya Osborn.
The initial lead in the box stock Dash 4 Cash was held by Brady Osborn. Timmy Walters slid off track and Osborn did the same. Jones moved to the lead and was able to fend off Combest for the $100 victory.
The Wes Green Landscaping 125/200cc kart heat went to Braden Weiser. MKinzy Uselton jumped to the lead at the start of the feature but a spin by Braden Weiser forced a restart. Body Weiser took advantage to take the lead over Landen Green. The front two were close for a time but as the race wore on Body Weiser was able to pull away. Maleesa Miles’s spin closed the field while a spin by Uselton also necessitated a caution. They did not prevent Body Weiser as he was able to take the checkered flag over Braden Weiser, Landen Green and Uselton.
The Dash 4 Cash race as Uselton spun in turn three while Green and Body Weiser also spun off the second turn. Braden Weiser was able to avoid adversity to take the win followed by Body Weiser, Green and Uselton.
Nick Ford was the winner of the Fortuna Wheel & Brake old far karts. The main event was dominated by Ford. An early spin by Sara Cox slowed the field. The caution flew again when Amanda Harp turned around. Ford was able to lead wire-to-wire for the win. Harp, Cox and Foster rounded out the finishers. The start of the Dash 4 Cash saw Foster and Cox spin off the second turn. Foster led the restart with Ford closing quickly. Foster was able to fend off all challengers for the victory over Cox, Ford and Harp.
The NorCal Automotive 500cc/open karts had a nice turnout with Daniel Whitley winning the heat race. Wayne Fisher grabbed the lead at the start of the main. A spin by Tony Miles and Cliff Myer. Whitley took the lead on the restart and looked to be the driver to beat. The race was slowed by a Wayne Fisher spin. The biggest incident of the night came when Fisher spun off turn four. Miles also slid off track causing his car to roll over. Miles was able to drive his kart back to the pits but wasn’t able to return to the race. The rest of the race proved to be a formality for Whitley as he was able to cruise to the victory. Anissa Curtice and her father Brad Curtice had a race-long battle with Annissa taking the second-place finish. Fisher was fourth while Miles was credited with fifth.
It didn’t take long for Whitley to move to the lead in the Dash 4 Cash. By the end of lap one he was able to take the lead from Fisher. Anissa Curtice spun from the third position for a caution but it didn’t prevent Whitley from taking the win. Brad Curtice took second over Fisher and Anissa Curtice.
Pete Michlette was the winner in the Michlette Family Racing real stocks. The main event saw Jordan Michlette move to the lead over Tim Crenshaw. Several cautions slowed the race and allowed Tim Crenshaw to inherit the top position. Crenshaw never lost the lead even though Pete Michlette made a hard charge in the final few laps. At the checkered flag it was Crenshaw winning followed by Pete Michlette, Jordan Michlette and Alex Kinser. The Dash 4 Cash was a formality for Jordan Michlette as he led from start to finish beating out Pete Michlette, Crenshaw and Kinser.
It was a bittersweet ending at the conclusion of the races as it was the final event to be held on the 1/10th-mile dirt track inside the 3/8th-mile paved oval. Thankfully racing for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts will continue to be held at the fairgrounds. A new track inside the old rodeo arena will be the new home for the outlaw karts. Unfortunately, the next race which was scheduled for Saturday July 14th has been cancelled. Officials are working on rescheduling the event.
